Looked good, this. Some videos of Lil Ugly Mane’s set just popped up on my Twitter feed.

Didn’t realise Armand Hammer were playing.

Would love to hear how it went this year?

I had really wanted to make it down but timings did t wirk out so have been trying to catch the trickle of acts also adding a Glasgow date

Wish I’d gone to this now. Footage they’ve been posting over the weekend looks great.

Gonna do a post later when I have time but give the media team a rise if they’ve got it sounding good. The sound live was atrocious all weekend

Overall had a 6.5/10 time. Most bands seemed to be doing a good show (biggest surprise were Loathe) but the venue was HORRIBLE. Absolutely stunk of portaloos, outside areas were cramped as fuck, well overpriced. The sound quality was horrible and the scheduling was bad. Not about Turnover boring everyone to death 3 bands before the end. Made me miss Buggin and Zulu as I couldnt back being sat on there for another 9 hours.

I’ll do more band wise but biggest surprise (other than Converge doing The Saddest Day) were Loathe. Not a fan on record, killed it live

Is the only outdoor bit still that tiny courtyard in the back corner? Only ever been for Warehouse Project and it was nowhere near enough then, and that was in November.

Yeah they had that and they also had an area going to Star and Garter but both areas had food stalls and/or portaloos which took up space

My mate went on saturday and the clips he sent from inside made the venue/set up look so shit. Kinda glad it was too much for me. Soul Glo looked fun for them and anyone nearby but don’t think i would have actually got much from it there.

Amazing Converge bought the saddest day back. Still one of my favourites

Shame the sound quality meant the first half was barely audible though! Bane sounded great tbf

They got Gold Chain Punk cut off a bit cause the crowd invaded the stage and for the rest of the festival, whenever more than like 2 people got on (or Lil Ugly Mane told people to get on), big notices saying DO NOT INVADE, GET UP AND GET OFF flashed up haha

Just got back from this. All in all had a brilliant time, so really glad I went :grinning: Have mixed feelings about the venue; it’s in a much better location than Bowlers last year (for hotels + food and drink before), and had a bit more space to hang out (though not enough seating). Having the Star and Garter there selling cheap pints was novel (for Friday at least) but yeah the toilet situation wasn’t great and the sound was really mixed. Didn’t really spend any time at the second stage (other than seeing T.S. Warspite, who i enjoyed), but the main room had a real problem with sound for bands that weren’t either bass heavy or crushingly loud. You pretty much had to be in the first third of the room for the sound to be decent. Despite all of this, all the headliners were awesome. For Converge I was right down the front and yes, the Saddest Day was brilliant to hear. Death Grips had the most insane crowd reaction and Denzel Curry was full on banger after banger and a brilliant way to end the festival. Agree with what was mentioned above with some weird scheduling and I too sacked off the first few hours yesterday as I am too old to stand on my feet for 3 days straight and wanted to go to Bundobust instead. Highlights: All the headliners, High Vis starting their set with ‘Morning Glory’ (as well as the rest of their set), Candy were a brilliant and chaotic start to Saturday, Soul Glo were predictably awesome (tho the sound was poor for me) and Earl Sweatshirt was nice and downbeat (matching my mood) before the chaos of Denzel Curry. Biggest surprises for me were Code Orange and Loathe for sounding absolutely massive and pummelling at times. Barely get on with either on record. Only misstep was Armand Hammer being a bit too drab/low energy. Mike was also quite amusingly laidback…basically allowing his hype man to do all the rapping. Would go again at this venue (tho only for 1 day perhaps), but last years venue was infinitely superior to this one for sound. I think they’re already said it’s back at Depot Mayfield again next year tho…

fuck i’d love to see Bane again to be honest.

I didn’t realised converge had pretty much stopped playing TSD. Just checked the stats and i reckon i last saw it 2008 for fucks sake. Saw the set and it was pretty axe to fall heavy which is surprising

Might have to try and see them again. Wish i’d gone to to the Bloodmoon shows as i like that album now.

Bands:

Sunami - just don’t get them. They were okay but not for me

Fleshwater - hugely disappointing. Vocals were off, they left abruptly after 20 mins. Not really a good introduction to them for new fans

Koyo - great stuff, really got the crowd going. Liked them on record before but very excited to see where they go now.

Militarie Gun - just so many bangers already. Love the crowd doing the OOF OOF at the end

One Step Closer - fell asleep during them last year, can’t remember them this year. Really like them too. Shouldnt have gone out night before.

High Vis - so great. Don’t actually think that the latest album is a patch on the one before but they proper can go live. Great Oasis intro too

Converge - wasn’t arsed about going to them because I saw them do Jane Doe (!) in November but those boys sure can rock

Bane - best sounding band of the weekend. Getting Reba on for Calling All Hours was a bit emotional

Candy - heavyyyy but victims of the muddy sound.

Narrow Head - very 50/50 on these. When they’re good they’re great but some songs are really nothingy

Scowl - could barely hear Kat at the start. Another shame as was very hyped and they seemed to be playing well but just muddy sound

Soul Glo - incredible stuff. Already covered up thread but truly one of the great live bands

Code Orange - lol

Death Grips - sounded better than I expected. Still not sure how they have this almost mythical status but I enjoyed them

Loathe - very enjoyable, loads better than on record

Lil Ugly Mane - all the hype for that? Hmmm not sure what the appeal is

Trapped Under Ice - its a TUI show. Absolutely great

Turnover - turn the radio over more like. Zzzzzz

Earl Sweatshirt - he was fine? A bit surprisingly bland
