PJ Harvey (Rolling - New LP, UK & EU Tour)

really good show last night, aside from the crowd. i moved three times but couldn’t get away from boring middle aged blokes talking through everything.

setlist chat

personally really hate when people just play the album in order, find it really dull. a couple of those songs sounded great live though with a bit of extra noise.

and then the rest was…

Tickets a bit pricey for me now but the one time I saw her live this was the setlist :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

saw a very similar setlist at glasontbury that year. had never heard Taut before, was a real highlight. the UHH stuff seems a lot better suited to live too.

I was at that one! It was a great set as the sun was going down. I think Green Day were (unfortunately) on after her. I’m not a fan of them.

That was my last camping Reading Festival. Too old for that shit now.

They were and their fans stood around me were letchy cunts, heckling Polly. Was my first PJ gig though and bloody amazing.

I agree with you on the crowd.

I was fairly upfront for the first part. With the pricey ticket and her infrequent live dates I wanted a decent first part of the set. I then went towards the back got a drink and stuck around there.

The crowd upfront were decent enough. One tall bloke turned up around us about two minutes before the start and fucked up a few people’s view…everyone adjusts themselves before a concert starts and then some rude person fucks it all up. Anyway, he was politely told off by another person and the bloke sorted himself out.

There’s nothing more embarrassing than being middle class and being politely told off by another middle class person. No coming back from that :slightly_smiling_face:.

I was happy with the first set both musically and crowd-wise I sort of knew what to expect around at the back. The crowd were unfortunately more shouty/chatty than my expectations. Not sure why people would be loud at a concert like that. I guess the simple and correct answer is that they’re pricks.

Good bootleg t-shirts outside. I got the grey one for a tenner.

I remember one PJ Harvey fan in front of me that evening there. He seemed to hate Green Day more than me.

He put his jumper or jacket on the floor in a position where it was inevitably going to get stepped on by the passing crowd. When he saw a probable Green Day fan accidentally step on his jumper he’d push them and swear at them.

Bad behaviour by him but I enjoyed that :slightly_smiling_face:

Roughly what time’s she finished in Glasgow and London (or Manchester, if anyone went)? I know there’s no support and she’s been on early, guessing she’s doing a hefty set though? Just trying to work out possible trains for tomorrow.

Finally managed to grab a ticket off Twickets, never known them go so quickly, must have been beaten to one about 10 times before I got one. Did see they had a few extras/on the door for tonight, dunno if it’ll be the same tonight if anyone else is looking.

Finished around 10ish on the first London date…

Could get on board with this type of set-up for timings…

About 21:50 she finished tonight. On stage 8 sharp.

Leave a few more minutes either side for navigating the heavy police presence with the scum being based on the same street.

Good tip, wouldn’t have put two and two together until tomorrow.

This Mess We’re In.

Cried at this last night :smiling_face_with_tear:

I see that she’s playing Gunnersbury Park next August.

I’m not too keen on outdoor day festival things nowadays but I’ll see who else is on the bill.

Ooh, that has the potential to be a very strong bill if it is all modern day polly disciples.

Its 7pm doors so might just be Polly, like the recent tour.

Feel like everything that was amazing about her show in the relatively intimate indoor venues she played could be a bit shit in a massive chatty London outdoor show.

I went the Field Day many years ago when she was touring The Hope Six. That live show with the big drums and stuff turns out to be a a great night.

But, yeah, the new album’s style isn’t in theory conducive to a good summer outdoor show with chatty people having had a few pints.

(Look how fancy I am using the word conducive. I’m probably using it wrong anyway.)

Just listened to Hope 6 for probably the first time since once or twice when it came out and writing it off as crap.

It’s actually not bad? Some way off her best of course, way better than I had it pegged down as.
