Rolling Hip-Hop Thread 2025

Skimmed this and these vocals make it sound really annoying. If they rapped normally without the altered vocals, it would be ok.

Gonna put a lot of people off for sure, but his production work is incredible and I find his stuff really addictive when you get past that. Plenty of people… won’t… but I guess Lord Quas has the helium vocals and plenty of old heads love that stuff. It’s an interesting stylistic choice, but is used to the same psychedelic effect as those records.

He’s championed the last few years by the likes of Earl, Frank and Denzel, and I think this is some of his best stuff yet. Like I said, it just got its teeth into me.

For me, Quasimoto works because the combo of his vocals, the jazzy beats and the humour all combine together well. Personally, I didn’t get that from what I heard from 454 and it kinda lacked a bit of personality because of it.

I understand why some may like it, but it’s not for me.

X-Ray from Monsta Island Czars has passed away. Responsible for one of my favourite ever 80s bangers. What a video!

Given how harsh and abrasive the reviews called it, finding Bladee really listenable on first attempt

Already know I wish it wasn’t an hour long but good shit!

Yeah, I think it’s definitely worth a watch. My wife even enjoyed it, and she has never listened to them.

And contains the definitive review of Once Upon a Time in Shaolin

I can also confirm it’s worth a watch. May even give it a rewatch.

I’m fairly convinced that blog is one guy and ChatGPT.

And I didn’t realise Canibus was still releasing music.

Yeah it confuses me how anyone can clearly stay fairly on top of new rap music, broadly have decent taste within quite a specific sphere, but also think that Skyzoo had 3 of the top 60 rap albums of the decade so far, or that Canibus not only still exists but also makes good music.

Then again, it’s sort of completely consistent with some old heads I see posting on Reddit and stuff. And he/they do occasionally point out some old boom bappers’ new releases that I wouldn’t hear about anywhere else, so it serves a purpose.

If the guy who runs that site isn’t a white dude that still wears Fubu and wears his New Era fitted as close to his eyes as possible, i’ll be very surprised.
