Hypothesis: Saturday Night Live has never been funny once.
In 2006 I went to New York. I saw a t-shirt I liked which said No Cowbell because it reminded me of bands like LCD Soundsystem and The Rapture as was the style that year.
I later was informed while wearing said t-shirt that it was a reference to a “hilarious” SNL skit, supposedly one of the best of all time.
I heard of it more for the musical guests.
I’m coming round to this being funny because everybody hates it. The Oasis one not the hippo.
Quite liked the film critic recurring bit:
Same blokes guy who just bought a boat was quite good, or the chap is just good at a comic delivery
there’s something evil in the SNL water
Sarah Sherman and James Austin Johnson - legit funny performers, they’ve done some great stuff, got some really strong original ideas
absolute garbage here
not just saying that cause I really fancy Sarah either
The key with SNL is not to choose anything from after about 1991.
My housemate used to watch it about 7 or 8 years ago and it was almost entirely terrible. Some of the pre-filmed sketches weren’t so bad as they had actually put a bit of time and effort into them but the live sketches are absolutely awful and they all go on about 3 times longer then necessary. Housemate will still occasionally watch sketches from the Bill Hader/Fred Armison era and they’re not quite as bad but still not very good.
Funny you should mention him
Apparently he plays some drums on Les Savy Fav’s best album?
this is mainly just Amy Poehler as HW Plainview is hysterically funny to me tbh
it’s been funny a handful of times
