Smirnoff Spotify Music Gender Equaliser thingy

#1

Not surprised with mine tbh

#2

Remember this doing the rounds before and telling me mine was 100% male and 0% female. I’m sure mine skews more heavily male but 100% is definitely inaccurate

How does Smirnoff know what gender every artist identifies as?

Doesn’t read much like an “equaliser” if you listen to 81% women artists and it leads with how much more music by women you could be enjoying.

I got 86% men. If women made better music I’d listen to them more

what if it’s a group with men and women?

think that’s never going to be accurate - sure lots of the big boys and girls have things split like that in bands but not for a shit ton of others.

Here’s the original thread

And my post specifically

#14

I got 100% male last time.

This time

YOU LISTEN TO

56%

44%

Ha ha, it was clearly messed up last time but also my wife expanded her account to family this year as so much music for our daughter was on there so I’ve actually been using it for my 2019 player in the main.

I’m now 67% men to 33% women whereas I was 100% men last year (hmmmm…) Neither is correct, but I guess either their database has improved to include more obscure women or I’ve gone a bit more mainstream.

Not sure why my “equalised” playlist has had stuff like Joan Jett, Heart and Pat Benetar chucked in though.
