Soulwax - Teachers (VOTE)

In the Soulwax cover of Daft Punk’s Teachers, Soulwax list their influences. Out of the bands listed in the song how many do you actually like? Vote for the ones you like please. As many as you want. I’ve got to be honest I’ve not even heard of all of these!
Maybe some of you can tell me about the more obscure ones!

Are all of these even real acts??!

Ah thanks!

ZZ TOP ARE IN THE HOUSE YEAH

Shame there’s no crossover between the tunes, I’m sure Soulwax could’ve fit in George Clinton maybe

Think the polling software might be a bit off. There seem to have been eighteen voters, but only four votes for Killing Joke. Can’t be right.

I’ve never heard a song by killing joke!

I know the song that rips off Nirvana but didn’t feel that was enough say that i like them

Here’s the above mentioned song that Nirvana ‘borrowed from’…

They’re one of my big favourites. Super intense heavy post punk stuff

Out of the bands that have received votes I’ve never heard any music from Monster Magnet, Bad Brains, The Cramps, The Sonics and The Butthole Surfers. Are any of these worth my time?

Yeah, they are all good…

Monster Magnet - post grunge/stoner rock:

Bad Brains - post punk/early hardcore mixed with reggae roots:

The Cramps - punk/psychobilly godfathers:

The Sonics - original 60s garage band:

Butthole Surfers - hardcore/grungey weirdness freaks:

Thanks. Will be investigating these today.

Always enjoyed this one (and the album it’s from) by Butthole Surfers.

If you don’t like this then I’m afraid your rock n roll licence will have to be revoked

Mumdance & Logos (techno/UK bass/rave weirdos) also did a version of this track a couple of years back too.

I highly recommend their Spine of God and Superjudge albums, they’re both fuzzed out classics. The latter is one of my favorite discoveries of this year, I don’t know what took me so long.
