Yeah it’s awesome
Agreed, it’s very good

(He’s the fucking daddy)
(Yes we know)
Wish he would release that legendary Rome Track, and the other archive tracks he played at Warp 20 live set. Those tunes are insane. I was (and still am) obsessed with the Rome Track. I believe it was actually test pressed in very small quantities and was to be an official EP but was shelved at the last minute. My memory is fuzzy but was apparently gonna be called Methyl Orange.
Those who don’t know (I guess you do) Aphex played a DJ set in Rome 2002 and pulled out all these insane acid tunes. For years they were thought as unreleased Richard tracks but have since been credited to Tom.
Heard Grant from Rephlex bash this out in a DJ set at Corsica Studios once, it levelled the place
I can imagine. Seems all the top Warp artists have to have some holy grail of tracks that their fans can’t get their hands on. BOC, Aphex and these with Squarepusher. Autechre nothing springs to mind, but they have a different attitude to the others. Maybe some Gescom stuff. I haven’t had a coffee yet so can’t think too much ![]()
I love his jazzier side from the late 90s/early 00s. Music is Rotted One Note is his peak for me, I love that mix of 90s electronica and jazz fusion.
Love how indecisive he was early on too…
From the Music is Rotted… wiki:
One of the reasons that I headed in that direction as opposed to the more computer sequence-type stuff is because I was actually beginning to feel really limited using sequencers and samplers… I was really beginning to yearn for the sort of unpredictability of the randomness of improvising with live instruments.
From the Go Plastic wiki:
Squarepusher claimed to be “fed up” with real instruments, wanting everything "brutal and digital.
Ultravisitor is probably my favourite, and has been for a while. This new track feels like an interesting return to some of the live instrument and classically-influenced sounds and feels from that era.
regarding unreleased tracks and Squarepusher:
(context, ‘him’ is Adam Betts from Three Trapped Tigers, Pulp etc. who played in Squarepusher’s Shobaleader One band)
What’s people’s favourite albums?
- Ultravisitor
- Hard normal daddy
- Feed me weird things
Been a long while since I’ve listened to him in any detail, but from memory, probably my favourites are Go Plastic and Music is Rotted One Note, but depending on my mood, I enjoyed anything up to and including Ultravisitor. Never really got on with anything he did since, though.

Selection Sixteen is underrated
