TAYLOR SWIFT 2020s

This is going to get better with repeated listens

Giving it a first proper listen. It’s always harder to be immediately engaged with songs without predominant drums, but I’m enjoying it.

I get a bit fatigued by her song structures being a bit samey, I think mainly because she’s so good at doing the V/C/V/C/M8/(V)/C thing, so I notice it more than I do with weaker writers.

Just got to the National one and it sounds a little more finished than some of the others. Again this might be because there’s a more obvious beat and a few more instruments.

Um, yeah, i like it so far.

First listen was maybe a little disappointing as it is exactly the same as folklore.
But then I love folklore and it’s by far my most listened to album this year.
I’m now on my 4th listen and I think it’s safe to say I’m really enjoying it.

I got 18 songs in 1 minute, eat it!

Unlucky! I just did 19.

I can only conclude that the person doing the skipping was more responsive. Under ideal conditions I would easily win over anybody.

doesn’t have the shock of the new that came with folklore, but wowowowowow does she have a way to deliver a magic melody

it does feel a little bit like she’s repeating herself a touch for the first time in a long time, but taken as a piece with the album put out less than 6 months ago (!) it’s a marvellous one-two for 2020

she’s just a natural

“The tennis court was covered up with some tent-like thing”

Maybe it was a … tent Taylor

Excuse you but who are you to accuse her of not knowing a tent when she sees one?

Closure and Evermore the two obvious standouts for me on first listen - though Bonny really doesn’t add anything with his appearance

Had another couple of goes on this and it’s definitely growing on me.

Gold Rush is such a fucking glittery badass of a tune, the way it snaps back spatially in the chorus/v2 transition makes all of hairs stand on end

I mean it is Green Light with different trimmings but it doesn’t matter

Title track sounds like Passenger Seat by Death Cab. Record sounds pretty strong but need to give it a bit of time to sink in.

Stand out tracks for me thus far are:

Dorothea
Champagne Problems
Coney Island
Marjorie

I love HAIM but don’t love the HAIM collab. Maybe I need more time with that one.

Yeah I like all of it except for No Body No Crime which is pretty bad imo. Difficult not to read the title to the tune of No Woman No Cry as well.

First 5 songs go incredibly hard, then No Body No Crime kills the momentum and the rest of it is good but doesn’t really get back to as good as it starts again, except for Long Story Short which is v good.

From approx 2:56 in Coney Island Matt Berninger sounds like Nick Cave. I like that though.

This person is a true hero

The way the text is aligned for ‘Fearless’ is doing my head in
