all decks on gold stake: completed them mate
Congrats! I assume challenges are next, and then golden stickers, right?
Iām currently on the gold stake for the third last deck, then have the final two decks to do after that. Slowly but surely!
And just had a good rub of that gold stake, so now onto Plasma and then Erratic decks!
challenges is a good shout, if only cos itās something different might not try and get the joker stickers done straight away, feel like thatās going to be a slog
Iāve been off work today as annual leave, and Iāve utilised my time well. 8 or so hours of Balatro, and another deck cleared! May have a break and venture outside before attempting the final deck.
And Iāve finally completed all difficulty stakes too! Just the 315 hours to do it allā¦
Iāll skip the golden stickers attempt, unless I decide to dip back in again now and then. But at least I can stop obsessively playing it now.
And these are my most used jokers. I ended up having the Fibonacci joker on my final run too. Love the Fibonacci joker.
wouldnāt have said that Abstract Joker was my favourite, but I guess if it comes up early I usually get it and then jettison it later, which might be why itās top.
good to see my boy Baseball up nice and high though
Yep, that baseball card works wonders as soon as youāve got two or three good uncommon cards. Quite satisfying.
Iāve got one win so far with the red deck, trying to get some wins with the other starter decks in before I think about the challenges or whatever. Some of the challenges I saw for the fancy jokers are already stressing me out
Been fun dipping in and out over the past week, concerned whatās going to happen after my holidays over and I have to return to my responsibilities tho
Vouchers seem really shit?
I never have enough $$$ to afford them instead of something more immediately good, but if I do then iāve basically already won that run so they have no effect or are just win-more.
What am I missing?
Using a basic voucher can unlock potential access to better, upgrades versions. There are some really useful ones but they are hard to grab straight away as they are generally expensive compared to your round earnings really early on. Once you start going for higher and higher stakes in the decks they become more and more useful as you can get things like a couple of extra hands each round or big discounts on any purchases or an extra joker slot which can make the difference between winning or loosing.
Yep, Iām a big fan of vouchers, especially the upgraded ones. Always snap up the discounted shop voucher, and the extra hand/hand size/discard/joker if I can. And then the others depends on my current jokers/decks or if Iām just flush with the cash.
how much have you played?
vouchers are very important. the shop is central to you building your deck as it were, and a bunch of the vouchers allow you to focus on certain aspects of said build.
Overstock - having an extra slot in the shop means more choice, means better chances of a card that can really help you.
Hone - holo and poly cards (both Jokers and face/number cards) are good/great.
Clearance Sale - everything cheaper? great!
Reroll Surplus - nothing you fancy? rerolls are $2 cheaper! this works well with Overstock ^
Crystal Globe - a bit meh, but it has niche uses for managing planet + tarot cards.
Telescope - reaaaally good. how annoying is it when money is tight and packs of planet cards arenāt giving you what you need? this solves that!
Grabber/Wasteful/Paint Brush - obviously great. extra hand, extra discard, +1 hand size, all super-helpful.
Seed Money - more money = more chances of getting the cards you want. a very good voucher.
Directorās Cut - crucial! the big boss blinds can totally ruin your run, this gives you a shot at a less painful one for whatever the circumstances.
Tarot/Planet Merchant/Magic Trick - you need more than just jokers, and these give you more specific purchase options than buying a pack.
Hieroglyph - I love this one. tricky losing a hand, but the extra go at a lower ante gives you more chances to build your deck to scale up to higher antes.
Blank - well, this is where unlocking the locked vouchers comes into play⦠this may not do anything, but its upgrade certainly does.
and so do the other upgrades
I had the same thing early on. What I realised after a while is my core problem was I wasnāt building enough gold stocks in early rounds to buy enough good stuff.
Thereās a couple of vouchers Iāll always buy, no matter what, but otherwise I try and think about whether theyāll synergise with my deck or what theyāll save me by round 8.
E.g. if I get the one that reduces the price of re-rolls in round 7, itās not worth buying. If Iāve got flash joker (increase multiplier on reroll) and itās round 2 then itās easily gonna pay itself back.
Yep. The only exception I would have to that is if Iāve got lots of money then Iād buy it. As often as I approach the last boss in Ante 8, I would do extra rolls to try and grab any extra tarot or planet cards to boost me up, as well as just in case an amazing joker pops up. Ideally Iād end up with as little money as possible before doing the Ante 8 boss.
(Although thatās just from the last lot of games where I have been wanting to beat each Ante 8, as opposed to trying to see what Ante level I can get up to beyond that)
Just discovered the button that changes sorting by rank or suit, lol
Think my goal is to win with all decks.
Just done the Plasma deck. Erratic next but I need to win with the orange stake to unlock it first (have been using the basic deck to go through the difficulty stakes)
After a few days break, it looks like Iām still dipping back into Balatro, vaguely seeing if I can get gold stickers on all jokers. I just did a good run/win now, and switched some gold jokers out and replaced them with other cards as I went along. Increased from 855 to 884 jokers.
Although I swear that no matter how many times I play, I still end up being too quick/inpatient and sometimes select four cards by accident in the Play 5 Cards joker boss. Too quick with the button pressing to pay attention to the Hand will not score message.
done the latter so many times, or misreading a boss and confusing play only one hand type with donāt replay the same hand type and messing things up as a result
finding the all jokers gold stickers thing a bit annoying myself, mostly cos itās a faff to remember which ones Iāve not used. have also ruined multiple runs by thinking āoh, Iāve not won with that joker before, Iāll sub that it, the others should be able to carry itā and they did not carry it
i donāt want to have to have a spreadsheet to say what jokers I need, but I feel like Iām going to end up with one
Yeah, despite me originally thinking it was a ridiculous idea, it seems like Iām slowly trying to attempt for all of the gold stickers. But am at least playing it less obsessively than I had been previously.
I did a win earlier where I managed to successfully switch some jokers around at the end and still win, including a joker (add $ sell value to jokers each round) which I hadnāt won with before. Iāve so far just been checking manually, but theyāre not always the easiest to skim through and spot in the collection section. Maybe when I get a bit nearer to the finish line then Iāll create a spreadsheet, but I think I have too many individual cards to bother with that right now.
I think I have two Legendary jokers I havenāt won with yet, so will definitely keep an eye out on them. I really hope I manage to do them sooner rather than later, as itāll be frustrating if theyāre the last two that I need to do / wait for.
