The Cure in the 90s

I tried listening to Wild Mood Swings again but had to turn it off. The lyrics on Mint Car are completely cringeworthy, and the guitar sound reminds of the little snippets they play in between scenes on 90s American sitcoms.

Never liked that one quite as much personally

It’s the best version of that song though.

I have to admit to not liking WMS. Given that I sort of agree with what no-class said about Mint Car above, the fact that I nevertheless consider it to be the best track on it speaks volumes for the quality of the album as a whole.

I even rate The Top over it (cue lots of people claiming that The Top is their best album).

interesting you mention The Top, the 13th feels like a sequel to The Caterpillar.

yeah i was bored out of my mind, lousy gig. hadn’t Porl left by then? i think he was playing with Led Zep or soemthing.

wish i’d seen them in 86

Really hate ‘Life of 1,000 Crimes’ though. That should’ve been axed. Otherwise it’s actually a pretty excellent album and would’ve got the glowing reviews it deserves.

I was familiar with the big hitters but that was the first Bunnymen album I listened to front to back (it was released during my stint at HMV so had it on the playlist) and since then I kinda wish all their albums sounded that good :man_shrugging:
