It is time for the Drowed in Sound Community Game of the Year 2025!

In 2023, the debut year for me doing this, saw The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom take the top spot, and in 2024 Balatro took home the gold award. With 2025 being as stack a year as it has been, will there be the consensus that there has been in other years? Who knows!

Note!
For completeness, a sixth game should be nominated in position 6, which is “best live service/on going game”. You pick what you think that means, see eligibility below. If your favourite on-going game was also released in 2025, remember to place it twice, once in the top five (in the position for 2025) and in sixth place to be counted for on-going title. Just to be clear it does not have to have been released in 2025.
ELIGIBILITY RULES
the game must have been released at some point between 1st January 2025 and the end of voting in December 2025. Note, there is no rush - there are still some large December 2025 releases that are eligible, and you can change your vote - just flag it in the post as tallying won’t be done until after voting has ended.
all releases count, including expansions, remasters, remakes, and ports to a new platform
Early Access games also count as long as they have been released on a platform this year without Beta requirements.
on-going games could be anything, from Overwatch 2 to OpenRCT2. You chose.

Changed my number 1 back to Clair Obscur…in my heart I know it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played and brings me the joy of playing FFVII for the first time when I was 8. That game made me fall in love with games, and Clair Obscur reminded me what it is that keeps me playing them almost 30 years later.
I played 90+h of Silksong and enjoyed a hell of a lot of it but couldn’t give it a vote as I bailed towards the end because of the massively over-reliance on gauntlet sections in the final act.
I assume is on-going game, like a game that didn’t come out this year but that you’re playing on and off all the time? I only play one at a time normally so I probably wouldn’t say anything for that.
Currently my 5 would be Bananza, Hades 2, Death Stranding 2, Monster Train 2 and Kirby Air Riders. Will give MP4 some time before voting and maybe I will buy Clair Obscur (I started it on Game Pass but then cancelled Game Pass and don’t want to buy it on PS or xbox only for good switch 2 port to come out).
