🎈🎈 The great big Pop Party thread (rolling) 🎈🎈

There are various threads for Pop music, but unless I’ve missed it, I don’t think we have a dedicated rolling thread for everyone to just hang out in and have a fun, fun party. Hopefully we might discover something that will make us want to dance or cry or bring out the glitter in us all.

I’ll kick things off with what I’m currently sat in the garden listening to, Astrid S

Keep going back to this from the Empress Of album from earlier this year. Inexplicably not a single, so here’s a live version rather than an audio rip with a static image:

Think this is a really great piece of R&B pop that could have come out 20 years ago. Put the album on mainly because the singer is a voice from Sing 2, thought the kids might like it, but this one really stuck with me.

I loved her ep (was it an album) from a couple of years ago, but also am yet to give this a go.

Could’ve sworn we already had a pop thread, but anyways this is a good feral banger

There was a bangers thread this year, but I couldn’t find a pop one, and the bangers one wasn’t all that pop.

Love what SG and Tove have been doing of late. Really wanted to make it to one of their nights, but they didn’t align to my work hours so well

Not the upbeatiest of tracks, but the latest Halsey single builds a new song with personal lyrics around a Britney chorus:

Still not over how good this song is

Haven’t had this ambitious a pop song in absolutely ages.

Reminds me a bit of Late Of The Pier - Bathroom Gurgle in that it has about 3 parts to it.
