I’m potentially gonna do a double header of Coen’s Macbeth and Liquorice Pizza (are we counting this btw, it’s already out in a couple cinemas) which will finish after 10pm. Could I vote a little later? :sweat_smile:

I think both count as 2022, but it’s a bit messy.

Confused about where Boiling Point sits as it’s been out in a few select places and on streaming, but the UK cinema release is Feb 2022…

I’m counting Licorice Pizza as 2022 as the general release is 1st January, I think it’s only playing in four London cinemas plus one in Brighton in preview screenings this week

The distributor website says the cinema/VOD release for Boiling Point is 7th January if that helps

I’ve submitted what I think is a list of 10 films released in the UK in 2021, but it doesn’t match my actual top 10 because I had 'Another Round in my top 10 from last year, and my number one film from this year (‘Red Rocket’) hasn’t been released in the UK yet. I usually just make my list based on ‘new movies that I saw for the first time this year’ and ignore the awards circuit diagnosis about what year a film was released.

I really should stop using calendar years to judge things. Without question my album of the year for 2021 is ‘Inlet’ by Hum, which I first heard on January 2nd this year, so it doesn’t count… And a lot of my top 10 film choices are a toss up end up being which of the awards favourites from last year I finally got to see, and ones I saw early enough this year. Always makes a disjointed list.

Don’t think I can be arsed putting myself through Matrix on second thought, and I can’t for the life of my get Sky Go to work on my laptop so Another Round will be if I can be arsed watching it on my phone (or finding another perfectly legal way of streaming)

Locked into Amazon Prime here. Didn’t even get a cinema release even though they were open and in need of custom. So I’ve not seen it :slightly_frowning_face:

Almost criminal behaviour that.
Yeah it’s on prime over here now but was in a few cinemas for a couple of weeks at least. That’s really sad

That was my list that I’ve submitted. Another Round was the best film I saw last year and after that there’s probably 20 that could have made the top 10.

Mainly picked the ones I did as a combination of how good the film was together with how much I enjoyed it. There’s clearly better film making than Love Hard but I just enjoyed the silly ride that the film was. Laughed out loud at that film more than any other this year I think. Probably tells you something about my sense of humour.

A Ghost Waits is probably (maybe) one that some people may not have seen or heard of. I cheekily put it on my list as The Guardian review was in 2021 and February 2021 was it’s availability on streaming platforms.

It was a 2020 film. But it’s a brilliantly unique bittersweet “rom-com”. Definitely a rom-com but then one that doesn’t fit that description either. I remember watching it and loved the quirky indie-ness of it. Worth checking out if you haven’t seen/heard it.
