The Lounge/Cosy Club chain

The best of the chain bar/restaurants imo. Always look nice, always have good staff, food is very nice and have some good beers on normally.

  • I agree
  • I disagree, I don’t like them
  • They’re fine
  • Never been to one

Very slim pickings for chain eateries on the IoW. No Nandos, no Wagas, not even a Pizza Express. Our county town is kinda doshit for restuarants, but there is ‘Correo Lounge’ which is part of what I think you are referring to. Massive menu, loads of space, no one bats an eyelid when your child shouts YOU’RE A POOPOO HEAD, weekday evening dinner deals… I like it.

Yeah they’re all called things like that. One of the first ones was in Bath and called Velo Lounge cause it used to be a bike shop.

Yeah, I think the first one I went to was in Bristol (Fishponds?) years ago with my sister.

I’m kinda annoyed we went to Spoons the other day when we could have Lounged it up. Annoying.

This is the first I’m hearing of them

Spoons is also good obv but caters to a different vibe for sure.

Yeah I quite like them, there’s 2 or 3 around here, good food options and very very good alcohol options. Service system seems a bit silly.

There are 3 in Cornwall! The one in Truro is called the Truro Lounge so you don’t forget where you are.

Local one closed down recently.
Used to go there hungover for breakfast and bloody marys

Quite like how the staff don’t have any uniform or anything so last time we went two of them were in formal shirts etc, one was wearing dungarees and one guy had a Plymouth Argyle top and shorts on.

Lounges around here are called Ocho/Hudo/Juno etc. Great bunch of o’s.

Just a table number/order at the bar situation isn’t it?

Waiter service at the cosy clubs round here

Yeah think that’s the main difference. Also own Brightside roadside diners of which there are 3 in Devon and 1 in Rutland for some reason.

Oh very nice

I was very excited to visit the original Lounge in Bristol. It’s simply called ‘The Lounge’

They stopped doing the American breakfast that I liked

First one I went to was Deco Lounge, it seemed really fancy but I was a poor student. Used to live near ‘The Lounge’, now I live near Porto Lounge, have only been once as there’s a Crafty Egg next door which is nicer. Don’t know if my tastes have changed or they’ve gone downhill? Impressive that they’ve thought of so many words ending in ‘o’.

Oh yeah there’s a massive new one on the harbourside (Ritorno)

Did a trial shift at one recently (Truro). Turned up for interview, told I would be working right away, but hadn’t been told that ahead of time.
Got along fine. Never heard back.

They operate very, very similar to Spoons and other chains behind the scenes. They’re great for a fish finger sandwich or burger. Zero hour contract neeks.
