Theatre bastards - The new class

No worries, it was a scrum but managed to get some for a return visit.

Seen quite a lot recently, best was PUTTING WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH last night at the Roundhouse. 3 queer black men lip sync to interviews of gay people who have drifted towards UKIP and BNP. VERY uncomfortable as it should be obviously and really well made. Scottee and Roundhouse present Putting Words In Your Mouth

Also good: The Children at Royal Court, Buried Child at the Trafalgar, A Pacifist’s Guide to the War on Cancer at the National, The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures at Hampstead.

Fine: Red Barn at the National, Fool for Love at Found 111

Less good: The Nest at Young Vic

Agree The Nest was a bit meh. Enjoyed the Red Barn and not seen the others. King Lear at the Old Vic was great (apart from Rhys Ifans’ brief Bob Dylan impression) as were the young chekhov plays at the national. Best thing I’ve seen this year was Yerma. Still got Living with the lights on and Once in a Lifetime to come next month.

Living with the lights On is the best performance I’ve seen this year. It’s based on the actor Mark Lockyer’s experience of living with bipolar disorder in the 90s prior to diagnosis. His performance was stunning- the stories/memories he recounted were often both hilarious and devastating at the same time, and by the end of it he pretty much had my wife and I in tears. It’s on this week at the Young Vic- if anyone has a free night and can get a ticket, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Anyone else in Hamilton ticket meltdown?

Ha, just posted in the musicals thread - got two for March 2018. I’ve never bought Glasto tickets but I imagine it’s similar.

St Joan in a few weeks at the donmar

Having said that, my two friends who were also after tickets and several people on Twitter I follow also seem to have got them, so I guess it’s not that bad.

and it was only ten pounds!

Just got some, not the seats I wanted but I’m going. Now just a year to wait.

We’re going on Mrs HYG’s birthday, next year. Ridiculous.

Had to chuckle when my colleague got Harry Potter tickets and then realised they were for September. September 2018.

No sympathy for Harry Potter wankers.

Is there are info on when / if any of the original cast will be involved?

Intriguing! Well I’ll cross my fingers for March as well then

Went to Mary Stuart last night and it was some GOOD SHIT. Not sure if there’s still tickets but it is well worth a queue for.

Anyone in a queue now or at least planning to be in one tomorrow morning?

For Angels in America? Managed to get some in the members sale - went for a two show day.

I missed out on the entry pass ones. Might try again tomorrow, but know it’s going to be unlikely. I don’t think I could manage the two play day myself.
