Tim Hecker

My favourite Tim Hecker is my chronological playlist of his albums that has a few tracks removed but not many. Keeps the flow and ‘styles’ of his albums but runs pretty seemlessly. Sometimes I start at the start, or I just randomly start half way through

Which tracks are removed?

all of ravedeath

jk, it’s his best

a few of some of solo shorter tracks on the earlier LPs just to make a bit more a flow across the longer pieces or pieces he’s split up like tundra/ghost/harmony etc. Not skipped due to quality, but basically so i’ve got a good 3.5hr working soundtrack. i’ll play it through at least once a week. great for flying too.

Agreed! Awe inspiring use of fog, lights, dance, lakes (!!!), and a sense of the otherworldly and transcendent. Magical sonic perfection. Gig of the year for me.

Argh! Sounds awesome. I am jealous.

Come to NZ please Tim. Bring your mates.

Had a ticket for this but got coerced into going to see Disney on Ice next week and couldn’t afford to do both… Gutted!!

Stolen from someone’s twitter account, but this was the set up…

Yup, that’s a lake at the front of the stage!

What the (Tim) Heck(er)?

That photo would have been taken during their (Larry David shit) bow. That was all the ensemble at the end. During the post Kara solo bit of the gig, Tim was stage left the whole time, Kara stage right, then the others moving around the middle.

Oh no, you didn’t see the lake. During the dance near the end two people were in it. We were front row of balcony so had a perfect view.

Loved Dropped Pianos. Probably my favourite of his releases, which makes me wonder whether i fully ‘get’ him

Why?

Like when he recorded as Jetone?

I think this new track sounds really great. I like Konoyo, but it hasn’t quite stuck with me like the others have and I can’t figure out why. The individual sounds are all really great, but I’m not sure about the way it comes together.

haha hate when this happens, when your favourite release by someone is sort of an outlier to the ones people rave about.

I really like the trailer for the new track. I think it really adds a lot to see how he brought things together.

Like Ravedeath, it’s an album consisting entirely of closing tracks for me.

I think this is why I like them both. Love a good closing track and an album full of them…

17 seconds by the cure sounds like an lp of closing tracks and is fantastic.
