Really liked Travis when I was younger. Also, remember that supergroup with Fran Healy, Jason Lytle and Ben Bridwell? Don’t think I ever got round to listening to that but makes me wonder if they have a more cult indie reputation in America. I saw that website The Fire Note posting about the recent Glastonbury 99 live album on their Instagram too - I usually see them posting about Guided by Voices and Thee Oh Sees.
travis had one pretty good album which is more than can be said for coldplay
Not read the article but pretty stunning lack of self awareness if the headline is in any way accurate.
Reckon both bands have lead guitarists that would be at home in much more interesting bands
BNQT?
Great album!
Travis are very good.
I choose death
Good Feeling and bits of The Man Who are great. Bits of Parachutes and AROBTTH are quite good. Travis win.
Has anyone listened to The Man Who of late? I can and let me tell you lads, it is fucking boring!
The man who (bodysnatched our sound (Chris Martin))
harsh words from travis, who will be the victor in this mightiest chart battle???
look at the stars
look how they shine for you
all the things you do
they was all SAUSAGE-ROLLS
I knew this Tory government was going to bring a lot of bad things but I wasn’t expecting Travis revisionism to be one of them.
Writing to Reach You is still great imo
I don’t remember a lot of the album tracks though
12 memories is the good travis album btw
Travis at Glastonbury in 2000 were fucking great
Writing to Reach You and The Fear are both really good songs from TMW. The debut album has some really nice moments too but they never really made a great record.
Has Thom ever said that this is about bands ripping off the Bends/Radiohead in general? I’ve always thought that to be the case.
Aye, Travis and the rest were just ripping off the wetter, MOR- friendly bits of The Bends weren’t they. Like fuck Travis invented a sound.
