Which other music forums do you use?

Just stumbled across some posts about DiS closing on Reddit and was pondering if it’s worth anyone mentioning DiS on other forums as people seem to think the forums closed when the editorial stopped - I guess maybe because the editorial would remind people the forum existed?

Nice to see some former DiS readers replying over on reddit

GUILTY!

Occasionally look at the Afterword. But they are all old men who like new Bob Dylan albums and don’t understand streaming music.

It was news to me too.

I don’t even get my annual Muse message board birthday message any more (haven’t used it since 2001 or so when I used to spam it about DiS)

Nope

I haven’t heard Reddit much (mostly lurk). I’m assuming 60 upvotes is good?

I lurk in a couple of artist-specific Discords, but this is the only thing like this that I visit.

Think that’s the thread where a racist who used to post here calls me a cunt. Thanks for sharing!

No dedicated ones. Browse the Boards of Canada threads on WATMM and Twoism occasionally but that’s it. It’s only ever been this place really.

Can’t imagine there are too many dedicated music boards/subforums these days that don’t have a horrid format like reddit or have a horrid format and other issues like 4chan that also manage to have decent levels of activity?

Oh wow, Sean, what a throwback. I came to DIS through that spam of yours on the Muse forum all those years ago. I’ve just started again listening to music ‘seriously’ after a few years’ break, but I must say the weekly new music threads on here are the best. More people should know about them. Maybe time to spam again. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s good enough that you’ll get some visibility! It’s one of the top posts on indie heads right now, so interested folk will see it. The only issue is that with reddit is that after a few hours the churn means that it’ll be replaced by something else

Interesting that people on that Reddit post think the forums are closed.* Were you able to find anything out about increasing the visibility of the boards on Google?

*oh wait, one of those posts is @ma0sm

Just remembered that in the 00s I also used to post on the rap/hip hop board on gamefaqs back when that site was one of the biggest gaming sites and had a lot of active spin off/sub forums for other subjects too.

Oops! I didn’t actually read more than the first two replies, sorry Funky, I will remove my comment

Still an avid poster on Collected Animals, the Animal Collective forum. Some endearingly odd stoner types on there
