Aya

Time to have a thread about her, she’s from Huddersfield and she’s class. Was the best performance I saw at Rewire, maybe

Album rules. She is playing London soon but it’s my dad’s birthday, sadly. Someone go for me and have a nice time.

Yeah it’s so good. navel gazer is amazing too

That Rewire set was brilliant, and I’m loving the new record too. Another good interview from a few weeks back:

Her Lip Flip release from last year was billed as ‘ft. LOFT’, so I suspect she’s still got it kicking around for particular things.

Lip flip was last year, christ I thought it was at least 2 years old.

Oh yeah that’s a much better interview than the guardian one

She’s also on no tags podcast but I’ve not listened yet

First heard her Im Hole album in autumn 2022, liked it but have only played it 3 times so not fully familiar. Listed to Hexed! this past Friday during lunch but need to hear it on headphones. My wife came into the kitchen when I was playing it and I told her it was the new Anika (which I’d sent her a link to). She said “this is what I imagine 100 gecs sounds like.” That got a chuckle out of me. Needless to say she wasn’t into Anika’s new direction so I let her in on the joke.

Anyway gonna try the new one again on headphones this week.

i’m hole is one of the best albums of the decade. Genuinely adore it. New one is brilliant, tiny bit more aggressive than I’d go for but thrilled it’s getting a lot of love because it’s rare to hear something so different get more widespread attention.

Been some incredible records this year.

I remember really liking lip flip and im hole and I find the chaos here a bit scary.

Up there for AOY so far.

Oh wow this Are Eye Pea Ell Oh Eff Tea album sounds dope. Wonder why it’s not on Bandcamp anymore (dead links) but in its entirety on YouTube.

I think I might have a Bandcamp code for im hole going spare if anyone wants to try it

All been took down from bandcamp. Now only on Soulseek.

I remember her bio somewhere saying something like ‘I used to be called Loft, but don’t say that name to me’

And on my phone as of yesterday.
