no electrelane no party
5 artists each having 2 albums within the top 21 doesnāt seem ideal to me, but if thatās how they feel then what can you do.
Blonde, MBDTF and TBAP would feature in most top 10s I expect so thatās perfectly fair, and happy to see some British stuff so high compared to other lists Iāve seen. And while not number 2, Iām glad that The Strokes are still getting acclaim rather than the increasingly negative attitude that seems to be commonplace now.
Take care being above LR
SHOCKED guardian readers despair as radiohead ranked outside top 10
iād nominate Great Destroyer or Drums & Guns myself but happy to unify behind Things We Lost in the Fire as a sensible compromise candidate
(iāve been spending too long in the politics thread)
Really itās just a roll call of what albums were popular and a hit with critics so p pointless
I mean itās no more pointless than any list of albums this site would come up with.
I like lists like that. They provoke debate just like in this here thread.
Well Iād say this site has a much more specific audience and a niche that the Guardian just doesnāt. With a DiS list youād get a flavour of a particular scene, I donāt think the Guardian has anything much to differentiate it from many other mainstream publications.
If the DiS end of decade listās top 4 isnāt all the LC! records then Iām leaving this site forever.
List is totally invalid as Public Strain by Women and Fang Island by Fang Island are not on it.
Iād argue Nick Caveās albums this century are better than most on that list. I do incude Nocturama in that.
if it is then Iām leaving forever.
I do like a nice list if it broadens out your musical knowledge but this isnāt the sort of list that is ever going to do that really, unless youāre young or are only a very casual music listener.
I think a sort of curated list that introduces the main popular music of the last 20 years would work better - would be a more interesting jumping off point for music discovery. Maybe just make it 100 artists.
This is an extremely valid point.
Knock that Drake album out and shove in 808s. Plenty of room for 5 Kanye records.
Yup, Marvinās Room is the best thing on that Drake album and itās a pretty shameless 808s rip off
One or two of Nick Caveās other albums this century give it a run for its money.
Still prefer Push the Sky Away
His best of the century might be No More Shall We Part for me, but it changes fairly regularly
big Dig Lazarus Dig fan here, underrated i reckon but understand why people donāt rate it as highly as his more āseriousā records
Pleasantly surprised to see Can Ox get a mention, and given how gigantic it was at the time, surprised Merriweather Post Pavilion didnāt make it. I know AC are an easy target nowadays, but itās still brilliant.
