Bruce Springsteen

Incredibly powerful song and performance.

Fookin’ love that version! It gets a regular airing when I’m half-cut and on a YouTube binge!

I have the original vinyl (was my mums) and it’s one of the worst sounding records I own - the height of wobbly 80s vinyl. It may as well be a flexi disc

You can play I’m on Fire at 45rpm so it sounds like Dolly Parton though

Anyone else a major fan of this?

Kinda find it hypnotic.

Plus my beloved dad adores it and Bruce is one of the artists we bond over, so immediate soft spot for it.

Always had this as well, wouldn’t be able to tell you why. Another one that kind of gets me is ā€œwe like the same music, we like the same bands, we like the same cloooothesā€ on Bobby Jean (fucking tune though)

Top 5:
Thunder Road (don’t believe anyone who doesn’t say this)
Two Hearts
Atlantic City
Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out
Bobby Jean

A little bit of a ā€œI’d have to say, the Best of Bruce Springsteenā€ selection, but they’re the ones I enjoy most.

The song is total cliche of a Springsteen song, however, i love ā€˜No Surrender’.

The bit from 1:50 of Bruce and Stevie playing Sherry Darling always makes me smile a lot.

usual ā€œgoing to post something different tomorrowā€ caveats, but This Hard Land has been my number one for years and I can’t see that changing any time soon (Greatest Hits version for preference)

It’s beyond beautiful, too stunning for words. This is my favourite version: just Bruce, his harmonium and some massive synth swells at the end.

I rarely listen to it now, because it comes with too much emotion and shared love and loss for me to deal with; it was played at the start of my late wife’s funeral.

Swap I’m on Fire for Thunder Road and I agree with this.

My City Of Ruins during his 2013 Glasgow show* might be my single favourite gig moment of all time. Played in tribute to Clarence Clemons and James Gandolfini (who’d died a few days earlier). Proper tear in the eye stuff. :sleepy:

  • Also the best gig I’ve ever been to by an insanely gigantic distance. And I hate stadium gigs.

I went to the 2013 Cardiff show. Absolutely belting, probably the best I’ve ever seen him. He played MCOR that night as well, another special moment. I can remember it vividly even now.

Who needs those shivery ASMR videos when you’ve got this?

I caught that 2013 tour in Coventry. I’ve sworn off big gigs for good now, but think I’ll always make an exception for the the E Street Band. So many songs and moments from the couple of shows I’ve seen that totally transported me at the time and remain burned into memory like this.
