Incredibly powerful song and performance.
Rosalita
Thunder Road
The river
Atlantic city
Bobby Jean
Fookinā love that version! It gets a regular airing when Iām half-cut and on a YouTube binge!
I have the original vinyl (was my mums) and itās one of the worst sounding records I own - the height of wobbly 80s vinyl. It may as well be a flexi disc
You can play Iām on Fire at 45rpm so it sounds like Dolly Parton though
Anyone else a major fan of this?
Kinda find it hypnotic.
Plus my beloved dad adores it and Bruce is one of the artists we bond over, so immediate soft spot for it.
Always had this as well, wouldnāt be able to tell you why. Another one that kind of gets me is āwe like the same music, we like the same bands, we like the same cloooothesā on Bobby Jean (fucking tune though)
Top 5:
Thunder Road (donāt believe anyone who doesnāt say this)
Two Hearts
Atlantic City
Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out
Bobby Jean
A little bit of a āIād have to say, the Best of Bruce Springsteenā selection, but theyāre the ones I enjoy most.
The song is total cliche of a Springsteen song, however, i love āNo Surrenderā.
Dancing In The Dark
My Love Will Not Let You Down
Nebraska
Iām On Fire
Highway Patrolman
Jungleland
Something in the Night
Stolen Car
Iām on Fire
Brilliant Disguise
Pretty much changes on a weekly basis for me. Thatās how good he is.
Jungleland
Iām On Fire
Thunder Road
Sherry Darling
Dancing In The Dark
This Hard Land
Badlands
Racing In The Street
Thunder Road
The Promised Land
usual āgoing to post something different tomorrowā caveats, but This Hard Land has been my number one for years and I canāt see that changing any time soon (Greatest Hits version for preference)
Itās beyond beautiful, too stunning for words. This is my favourite version: just Bruce, his harmonium and some massive synth swells at the end.
I rarely listen to it now, because it comes with too much emotion and shared love and loss for me to deal with; it was played at the start of my late wifeās funeral.
Swap Iām on Fire for Thunder Road and I agree with this.
Top 5 that arenāt on the Greatest Hits, aka indie points Springsteen

My City Of Ruins during his 2013 Glasgow show* might be my single favourite gig moment of all time. Played in tribute to Clarence Clemons and James Gandolfini (whoād died a few days earlier). Proper tear in the eye stuff.
- Also the best gig Iāve ever been to by an insanely gigantic distance. And I hate stadium gigs.
I went to the 2013 Cardiff show. Absolutely belting, probably the best Iāve ever seen him. He played MCOR that night as well, another special moment. I can remember it vividly even now.
I caught that 2013 tour in Coventry. Iāve sworn off big gigs for good now, but think Iāll always make an exception for the the E Street Band. So many songs and moments from the couple of shows Iāve seen that totally transported me at the time and remain burned into memory like this.
