Made a 1000 (lol) track playlist of Cod Reggae tracks through the ages. Was convinced that any of those Mojo magazine ‘legends’ between the 60’s and 80’s all had at least one dodgy cod reggae tune in their discography. Rolling Stones have about 10 and Bob Dylan has his fair share too.

Some cod bangers out there though. Case in point:

Developed a real morbid fascination with this guy who makes no secret of the fact he’s from the Isle of Sheppey yet is somehow getting away with rapping in a full on fake Jamaican patois accent

in these times when people are quick to call others for anything off or culturally insensitive it’s wild that he’s basically trading off something way beyond even cultural appropriation, it’s full-on impersonation.

he’s gone somewhat viral from a few people reposting him potentially to take the piss but he does also seem to have gained acceptance from some corners of the industry, particularly I think I saw Popcaan endorse him

Seem to recall Radiohead admitting their first pass of one of the tracks of OKC (Karma Police I think) was ‘cod reggae’. No idea if the leaked mini-discs bear this out though.
