Found it very forced… lots of pretending to laugh, I think ![]()
*pretending not to laugh
No I mean pretending to laugh so they got out (Bob, Rom, I forget who else)
I think Shrewbie knows what you meant, mate
Every time it cut to the other room with Jimmy Carr and the eliminated comedians it felt like an act of sabotage by the producers. Like having a perfectly serviceable television show then puncturing it with a fire alarm sound every couple of minutes, it honestly did bring the whole thing down quite a bit for me. They’d have been as well flashing up a giant
on screen every 60 seconds.
Apart from that it was fine.
Oh… sorry Shrewbz!!
This forum is too cynical for the joyous world of LoL/Documental
Cop-out ending IMO
Sam Campbell comfortably the best thing in it this time around. Format would be so much better without the Jokers etc. Just let funny people be funny near each other IMO
Agree on the jokers.
Didn’t enjoy this one tbh. I prefer the tension from people who are more prone to being jolly and laughing having to rein that in. So last series worked because only Ayoade was truly deadpan, whereas this had a whole bunch of professional stone facers. Plus Sam, who is very funny obv but also operating on a completely different reality plane to everyone else, rendering the game a bit useless. That’s before you get into all the interfering but tbf I can imagine they were getting desperate behind the scenes
Imho ymmv etc!
Yeah dunno if it’s for me, it’s mostly terrible and obvious stuff with a couple of funny comments an episode, which would probably see on clips anyway.
Will give the Japanese ones a go

Funny
Daisuke is legendary
Would get so used to it not being funny that the impact of a well-placed Sam moment like ‘that’s actually very serious’ when Mitchell was doing his assisted dying bit knocked me for six
What’s the policy on feeding frenzies?
Hated the food bit apart from that comment. Thought David Mitchell’s standup was funny “bye you idiots” or whatever he said at the end
don’t really know why I keep hiding bits in spoiler tags
The Mitchell “stand up tropes done badly” is inherently a great bit but he did it badly.
It is too much for me to handle
I find Mel funny when she says things like “The Mitch” in that 90s student comedy way, bit like Morgana Robinson’s impression of Fearne Cotton “I’ve had way too much coffage today” (coffee)
Quite enjoyed the second series but agree that too many deadpan people does make it a little strange. Alan Carr was very entertaining in this.
Started watching the first series last night and enjoying it more. I like the jokers just because it forces them to do something very unexpected to get a laugh. Joe’s RNLI bit was perfect for this.
Also Bob giving Lou treats “here’s your treat ya bastard” ![]()
Most interesting thing for me about this season was I forgot just how fucking funny Alan Carr is. I’d kind of misremembered him as a bit light entertainment Paddy McGuinness-adjacent because he’s so mainstream successful but he’s an absolute bag of wit.
