Is it on streaming? I want to rewatch before the new one!
its on netflix
And rentable on YouTube, Apple etc afaik
Cool thanks, there so many it’s hard to keep track, thats this weekends viewing sorted!
justwatch is really good for finding out where you can find stuff, or usually when i use it finding out that summat is on a streamer that you already pay for but you have to pay more for this one thing for some reason. the future is so great!
Just finished it, it’s very entertaining! Vanessa Kirby as Haley Atwell playing Vanessa Kirby was excellent. Think I enjoyed it more this time without people in the cinema looking at their phones whenever there was a talking scene.
Looking forward to the new one now, it really is such a fun series.
A gorgeous day outside, perfect for spending roughly six hours sitting in a dark room watching a genuine lunatic jump off and dangle from all sorts of different things
Think this is worth seeing in IMAX? The usual Cineworld I go to is annoying not showing it on the largest screens (instead they are full of Lilo and Stitch) so wondering if it’s worth paying extra and seeing it at the Leicester Sq one.
Of course it fucking is!
I knew I could rely on you!
Just home from it. Heartbroken to report it was mostly a miss for me
While both times I’ve watched Dead Reckoning I’ve felt like I was levitating a foot off my seat due to pure pleasure, at times during this one I felt… bored? The exposition dump that makes up the first hour is truly criminal, the editing made everything feel weightless and disjointed, we seemed to be missing key action scenes in favour of people talking in rooms. Barely any mask work! Ilsa erasure! Pom Klementieff under-utilisation! Good to see Angela Bassett do the thing, but did she need so many stuffed suit types all performing the same function? I really don’t care about clean-shaven Nick Offerman. The two action set-pieces were good yes, but they didn’t thrill me in the same that the ones from Fallout and DR did.
On the plus side, Tramell Tillman.
I guess the entity got me
Saw it in Dolby Cinema last night. Definitely one or two sequences that must look incredible in IMAX.However, I am forced to agree with @noopout
especially coming off the back of Dead Reckoning Part 1 which for me is probably the second best of the lot, this is a real dud. Misses rebecca ferguson badly. Atwell is just there to be a damsel in distress and ask tom Cruise ‘what now’. Criminal waste of Offerman, Waddingham and Tillman (although Tillman steals his scenes, all two of them. Lumpen action, including some obvious sped-up fighting stuff with Cruise and some unforgivably obvious/wonky CGI. The one truly spectacular sequence, which of course you’ve already seen in the promo, is right at the end of the movie. even by the standards of mission impossible, the writing and plot is non-existent. A massive, massive let down
Ffs why are my spoiler tags not working? Mission Impossible trying to post this on a train with patchy internet
It’s the paragraph breaks. That’s why I had to put mine in a huge block of text
Ahhhh thank you
If you put a line break between the spoiler tags and the text I think you can put multi paragraph stuff in one set of spoilers, for future reference, and @Owensmaterob
Checking if this is the case
SHOW ME THE MONEY
YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH
Helpful, thank you!
100% to all of this, and I’d add
The under-utilisation of EVERYONE suggests a ton being left on the cutting room floor, Tillman in particular. But then the question is: what? Because as you said, there was so much Talking In Rooms that at some point they must have had a conversation about either cutting an action sequence, or making it 3 hours long.
My theory is that they had to retool the entire thing because of Dead Reckoning’s underperformance, but by that time they were committed to the Entity/Sevastopol/Gabriel stuff, and maybe had already signed up all of those other great actors so also had to find stuff for them to do. I dont know if that’s how films work but it felt both overstuffed and undercooked.
