Don’t think he’s into films
Makes sense. There weren’t many around in 16th century France.
ho is netflix
It’s like game pass for American mini-series and shite films
think i’ll stick with my dvd boxsets, thank you
(already gave up on bloodstained)
I loved the main missions and most of the side quests.
The Osborn stations were a bit hit and miss but the good ones were great.
Adored taking photos and the stealthy hideout bases ripped out of Arkham.
Less a fan of the Sable camps.
Preferred finding cats and pigeons to the bomb hunt and drone races.
CANNOT be arsed with repeatedly doing the small crime shit.
Ha! I’ve not even unlocked a few of these. I find if I don’t get all this guff out of the way before finishing the main campaign, there is zero chance I will ever do it
Yea they were pretty shit. Annoying as hell when the game accidentally triggers one as you swing into the area where one’s been hiding and the Spider-Man dickhead just shouts PIGEON or something as it flies off.
I’ve noticed a side mission waiting for me on Miles that’s called something like “I’ve lost my pigeons” and I can’t bring myself to do it yet. Little bastards.
Yeah thats what I did for about 10 hours or so and eventually I got to the point where I thought ‘What are you doing? This is the same shit you hate in Assassin’s Creed and most 40+ hour games’ and I just mainlined the story, which made me love it again.
No idea why developers always feel the need to stick 20+ hours of stuff in games that’s just retreads of things you’ve done for 20 hours already.
I started 2021 by finally finishing off Metal Gear Solid 3. It took me a couple of months but I did have a few weeks during that time where I was ill and didn’t really fancy diving into it.
I find it hard to seperate the second and the third games in terms of which I think is the best - they’re both very good, obviously.
I love the gameplay in 3, it’s head and shoulders above the previous two. You can see the indelible influence it’s had on stealth games by opening up both the level design and the player’s options to progressing through areas. I went for the more cerebral option of just picking people off with the mk22 but I like the fact that you can go all guns blazing (although you’ll get punished for it) or you can muck about with the many tools at your disposal. The boss battles in the game are some of the best I’ve ever played and that leads me onto some of the directing and cinematography which is a joy to behold.
Weirdly, I’m not as sold on the story of the campaign compared to Metal Gear Solid 2. The Cobra Unit, by and large, play a small part in the plot but there’s just enough of them along with Volgin that prevents me from suspending my disbelief the whole way through. The relationship between Naked Snake and Boss is poignant as well but I think the second game did a better job of investing me in the lovers’ tiff between Raiden and Rose, funnily enough.
Barring the huge exposition dump towards the end, the final third of 2 is such a thrill in terms of its twists and turns and its breaking of the fourth wall and the premise of Metal Gear Arsenal strangely still seems somewhat plausible today.
So there you go… I started Metal Gear Solid 4 last night but I thought the opening was all over the place so I’m going to have a go again this evening.
YEP! This happens to me every time I do an open world game.
“I’m going to 100% this, love these little tasks”
6 hours later
“JFC there is no point. Literally no point.”
And then play through the campaign as quickly as possible
3 had that cool thing where the time of day changed and reflected the story/created unique scenarios, which I don’t remember seeing in games before that. I much preferred the espionage element to it as well. But 2 was absolutely astonishing to my fifteen year old self. I find it hard to choose one over the other either. 3 is far more accomplished to my mind but 2 is more exciting I guess? 4 is a total Kojima kitchen sink scenario. I’d love to replay it. I know it’s quite divisive for people, but it’s tied to when I first got a PS3 and I have a lot of fond memories of it.
Hell Let Loose update looks gorgeous in its very grim way.
I just finished playing through MGS3 (on Xbox) and MGS (on PS Vita). They’re both so much fun to play. The direction & cinematography are so great in both as well.
This was the first time I’d finished 3 and I might agree about it being the best in the series. When I played it in 2004 I remember finding the lack of a radar really annoying, but it totally changes how you have to think about the stealth. It gives the game a much slower pace than the first two, but every second feels more tense & exciting as a result.
I’m saving 2 for a bit because I’ve played it so many times already, but I started The Phantom Pain and Peace Walker for the first time today. Though tbh maybe I’ll just play 3 again… I killed The End before the boss fight to get the achievement but that obviously meant I missed out on a really great fight.
I’ve come to love it now, some scattered thoughta below.
There’s still some shit like the mostly useless praetor suit upgrades, the shitty hub world, the exp bonuses you get at the end of a level - what even are these? Multiplayer? Loot boxes? I don’t care to find out.
It starts really badly, the first 2 levels are easily the worst in the game. Level design and encounters ramp up massively after this and it feels like doom 16 on steroids for large parts of the game.
The ice bomb and flame belch are brilliant additions, I love freezing a batch of enemies, flaming and then grenading them to burst out a shower of health and armor pickups. A great way to recover from a big hit.
Blood punch is largely m’eh. Seems it exists to strip armor from the heavier demons but it’s easy to forget it exists.
Given doom is a game about movement and resource management, it really does a brilliant job of levelling this up. Dash, double jump and chain feel amazing once you’re zipping around the map.
I’ve also come to appreciate the limited ammo, divisive as it may be. It forces you to use different weapons and become proficient with all of them, saving some for certain scenarios, but there’s still enough chainsaw fuel around that you rarely completely run dry.
Weak points are also great, you can still kill them any way you want but it is very rewarding to swap to the cannon, snap into the scope and blow off a mancubus turret, snap back to the shotgun, grenade his head and then scope the other turret while he’s staggered. Loads of stuff like that just adds depth and skill to the combat where it wasn’t there in 16.
Im only in the arc tower, so it could all go to shit now but stick with it and it’ll grow on you
Most people I hear talk about it say it gets real bad at the end with the gates which is why I gave up after finding the start of the game pish as I just assumed it was all down hill from there
Tis the best anyone playing Dota deserves
I tried playing League because I’ve got more penoid pals who are into it but was immediately put off by the tits and bums everywhere. It’s bad enough being a MOBA player without being one of those gamers.
