Booked a holiday for next year? Planning any trips away yet for 2026? Then boy, do I have the thread for you.

Anyway, we booked a Tui holiday to Malta last night. I was looking at some old photos of us snorkelling about ten years ago and thought it would be fun to do that again, so I googled where was good to go snorkelling in Europe. Malta came out tops, so we’re off there next May

Next year I will finally go to Japan. If I type it, maybe it will come true.

Nothing booked, but thinking about doing a road trip around Scotland in the spring/summer.

Trying to work out whether we hire a car and stay in hotels, or hire a motorhome. It works out at about the same price, from the looks of things.

Going to Portugal again in August.

That’s about it so far.

Prague in Jan, Riga in March, gonna book a cruise in June i think, fit something else in in september or october

Would like to go a bike wanker holiday in late spring. Cycling abroad rules!

Thinking Corfu or one of the other Greek Islands at the end of summer, Sept/Oct maybe.

I’m thinking I’d quite like to go to Prague for the Franz Kafka Museum. All my solo trips relate in some way to literature, apparently. Psyching myself up for it now

I have nothing booked yet but thinking of flying into Bratislava and then going on to Brno to get my DiS travel badge. Our annual Poland jaunt is dependent upon the situation in Ukraine but thinking of flying into Poznan and going to Bydgoszcz and Torun. We’ll also need a trip to somewhere hot - I have a friend currently in Crete so I’m waiting for his review. Also got a ‘work’ trip to Vienna later in the year.

Me too.

If I pass my driving test, I’m going to go to Barcelona in January. As a treat.

We want to go to Norway and rent a camper van so will probably do that. We will probably also go to Greece again because Greece!

Annual Tenerife trip with the missus and her parents Jan, then honeymoon in nov will likely be Japan

Really want to go back to Orkney, going to try and plan a trip for around midsummer.

Apart from that, I really enjoyed both Rewire and Unsound this year, so will venture out to Den Haag & Krakow again in all likelihood. Maybe with an extended stopover in Berlin for the latter.

Lastly, my parents are increasingly infirm and have lost their confidence in going away, but it always does them a world of good when they do. So will probably try and organise some kind of family holiday with them and my brother - they know & like Crete, so that’ll be the easiest choice.

me and my partner usually do a holiday around January time each year because that usually fits well with all the other stuff we do - but he’s reaching the end of a big work project and isn’t going to be able to do a winter holiday this year, so i’ve just gone mad and booked a holiday by myself to go skiing for a week in france - 6 days of instruction. I’ve never gone on holiday by myself before!! I know it’s a group thing with the instruction etc, so it won’t be lonely, but it will feel super strange heading off to the airport alone. Also I have to remember how to ski because i’ve put myself down as an intermediate, but that’s probably more a reflection of how capable I was like 11 years ago when I last went on a ski holiday – aaggghhh!

I’m not a great skier by any means but despite being terrified at the first days lesson I find it surprisingly easy to pick up where you left off. Was hoping to do a ski trip before Christmas but I don’t think it’s going to happen. As for holidays, I’ve no idea. Daughter was meant to be getting married in Oz, but that’s been moved to 27.

had to go to Isle of Mull for a funeral in 2024

got a friend who’s getting married in late 2026 but it’s only a bus ride away so maybe if there’s a foreign stag do I’ll go on that

Mrs Zygotic wants to go to Wales so maybe north Wales around Easter. I’d like to travel round Belgium by train - Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent etc - so maybe that over the summer. Hoping to get BFI funding to attend the Cinema Ritrovato in Bologna in June. However only things that are definite are our annual family holiday to the Isle of Wight and a week’s hiking in Switzerland.

Me three
