đŸŽ” How Good Are They Really đŸŽ” Limp Bizkit

This song is a massive guilty pleasure but I find it hilarious that they’re giving it large about drinking gin

I mean i can’t answer that so maybe blaclface is too far but I definitely feel there’s so,string uncomfortabke about some of the outfits

Dreads and a kinda papa shango thing going on.

Don’t think limp bizkit lyrics have ever been progressive or subversive so it feels off to me

I was 26 when I first heard Limp Bizkit, see if you can guess whether I like them

Which reminds me, the song My Generation seems to be written for generation X. Did Fred Durst believe that his main audience was people born between 1965 and 1980 or was that it in 2000 millennials weren’t a thing and anybody young was still thought of as generation X?

It was his ode to Billy Idol and the lads

Does the sun not even shine through their window pane? Poor lads

Oh gosh. Yeah, I hadn’t seen this one. That is pretty indefensible.

IMO it’s that he (correctly) assumed that his target audience of teenage millennials would not question his age and would happily shout along to the song regardless

Not my thing but I can see why folk would like them. There’s definitely a few bangers in there.

I saw them at Leeds 2000. They were the band everyone wanted to see and were hyped up to a ridiculous extent in Melody Maker and Kerrang (Despite this, they only had a mid-afternoon slot - followed by The Bluetones). You’d have thought they were going to bring on the downfall of society, the way the magazines were talking about them. Anyway, they came on stage and were probably the closest to a boy band the festival had - More pop than Daphne & Celeste who at least managed to do something badass in pissing off a bunch of teenage edgelord fucks. They had glitter cannons ffs

Let’s go with a 2.

It would have been a 2 but the Lollapalooza set (which I’ve watched about four times now) knocks it up to a 4. My Way is also a huge undeniable banger.

I’ve given 1 to counter this 5

Ha aye genuinely love this cover

Agreed, it basically a straight cover isn’t it? It just seemed a really strange choice of song to cover though

I am awarding the band Limp Bizkit a score of 1/5.

I think that it’s easy enough to just be aware of the connotations whatever the reasons or context behind it and avoid doing it altogether tbh. Also gives a convenient excuse to people doing blackface to claim they weren’t trying to emulate or mock POC etc (for example in Cornwall where the proponents of ‘darkie day’ claim they’re recreating soot on the face of coalminers while also having Gollywogs tied to their clothing). Not saying this is what you’re doing here btw, just my thoughts on the matter in general.

no strong feelings either way. i’ve no nu metal nostalgia

I like that this isn’t just a “1” fest - Here’s some nostalgia - does anyone else still have this?

I believe, it came with a stick of gum, and some other stuff!?

Yeah its fine. Not great but not as laughable as was made out

I have a feeling it will still get a score in the low 2’s, but the nostalgia chat is pretty fun.

Slams the old “5” button.

What a band. Big, big gateway band for me and my mates, used to play 3 Dollar Bill and Significant Other on repeat whilst playing the old Warhammer. Brilliant stuff, big, stupid metallic rock innit, so many hooks.

Saw them at Sonisphere in 2014, absolutely incredible. Doubt they’ve changed their set in about 20 years

Fun fact, asked for chocolate starfish for christmas and so did my cousin who’s 3 years younger than me. I ended up with the censored version and he got the one with all them swears in it. 28 years old I was
