Loved the singles but didn’t love the album last year. Her glasto set was fucking great though.
Going to dive into the other albums today before scoring
I’m going with a 4, may up to a 5 after another listen to Lizzobangers later. Brilliant album, Good As Hell is a fucking amazing song, Cuz I Love You is very good but doesn’t quite live up to the singles, that Glastonbury set was astonishing, seems like a very good egg. Fuck it, 5 it is.
She is obviously a fabulously cool and brilliant part of the culture and long may she reign.
Increasingly I’m not mad about the music though. I feel each of her albums has been less enjoyable than the one before as she moves away from an idiosyncratic brand of hip hop into a more generic pop sound. I liked the singles from the last record but the album as a whole was a bit of a yawn. I’d still love to see her live though - I bet it would be a blast.
I only got into her around the release of Juice but went back and listened to Lizzobangers and Big Grrrl… and ended up quite excited for Cuz I Love You. Found it a real let down and think Juice is maybe the only track I liked in the end?
She is definitely a force for good though and I would love to see her live. Can’t decide between a 2 or 3 so going to listen to all her stuff today and come back to it.
I think out of any artist she is the one whose fans have the least to say about their music. Any comment on their music is often reduced to the word “banger” or “queen”, which is something I find odd and even problematic but in a way I’d need more time and probably intelligence to really write out.
That wouldn’t affect my score of course. I think she’s a great vocalist and does have a couple good tracks but beyond the hooks there’s not a lot for me to grab on to and I think there’s a lot of filler amongst the music I have listened to.
Gonna listen to more today. Will be a two or a three.
Only know Cuz I Love You (the album) which I really liked when it first came out. But I also haven’t gone back to it all that much, nor have I listened to anything that predates it.
I’ve gone with a 3 for the enjoyment that album gave me alone.
Lizzobangers is genuinely good. Diminishing returns after that, although she’s undoubtedly a talent.
I get what you say about her fans - she attracts a fierce commitment for all sorts of reasons which are not that much to do with music (which is absolutely fine and understandable).
For the first time, I have literally no idea and don’t think I’ve ever consciously heard a track by the artist in question. Actually quite surprised to learn she has three albums as I thought she was newer than that.
I look forward to being educated over the coming two days, but unless it either hits me like a lightening bolt or turns my stomach to ash I suspect I will have to abstain.

Cuz I Luv You was my first exposure and would have led to a regrettable 2; seems a good egg but that album was musically pretty weak and led me to believe the hype was all down to personality.
Have Lizzobangers on this morning and raising the vote to a 3 already as this is much better.
