Remission, Leviathan and large parts of Blood Mountain are exceptional. I started to lose interest at Crack the Skye, and haven’t been interested in anything I’ve heard since.

I saw them live at a festival a few years back, and they were really quite boring (late afternoon slot on a sunny day probably didn’t help).

4 for the first couple of (outstanding) albums.

They’ve been pretty rubbish for a while but they wrote Blood and Thunder so obviously it’s a 5. They wrote the best song about fighting a giant whale ever. Can your favourite band say the same? Unless your favourite band is Mastodon: no they cannot.

Don’t actually know them that well but I read Moby-Dick with Leviathan as the soundtrack and Blood & Thunder is an all-time great song and album opener so it’s a 5.

Think they peaked with Blood Mountain, but think y’all are doing the more recent albums a disservice. Each has at least a couple of all time bangers on them.

Gonna do a longer post later probably but it’s a big fat 5

Every time I try listening to anything other than Remission I wish I was just listening to Remission

Technically flawless band with a catalogue full of bangers. Personally a huge fan of their poppier side (voted for The Hunter as my favourite album of theirs as it’s the one I go back to most often) but suspect there will be a lot of chat about their having fallen off following Blood Mountain. I really like the band they’ve evolved into but totally understand why others don’t.

A massive gateway band for me into stuff like Baroness and Red Fang so very important in that regard. Feel like they always pick great support acts to put in front of those big crowds they pull, too. Easy 4

Download 2017 perchance? Really weird set. Utterly bizarre song choices, and made all the more infuriating by the fact they appeared at The Golden Gods awards two days later and smashed out a mini-set of back-to-back bangers

Secretly a very good album

No coincidence that the producer is also the guy behind the recent Turnstile, which has a lot of people who aren’t into hardcore, into hardcore

Also a very good album!

Never listened. Assume from the photo and list of album/song names that it’s synth pop

Top of the list in the “bands that sound exactly like their name” poll. Except that the mastadon in question is wearing a metal mask of its own skull and firing laser beams from it’s eyes as it ravages West Kirby.

Blood Mountain is really good, Leviathan is pretty good, Crack the Syke was fine, didn’t bother after that

Sonisphere 2014 (I could have sworn it wasn’t that long ago). They were on before Alice in Chains and Metallica, and seemingly forgot to play their best tunes.

It’s a 5 for the first 4 albums. Don’t care about any nonsense they’ve done since. Incredible band.

SPIRALLING UP THROUGH THE CRACK IN THE SKYYYY!
