šŸŽµ How Good Are They Really šŸŽµ Shellac

haven’t listened to them loads on album, but really enjoy what I know and want to explore them more. Sign of a pretty great band though when you can see them live 3 times (all at Prima) while only knowing a handful of songs and think they were absolutely amazing every time.

Prayer to God is a perfect song, love how raw and live all the music sounds, all-time rhythm section, love the drum kit deconstruction during their live sets, Albini seems pretty great and on-the-money with most things, guitars made of metal are sick as fuck

4/5 for the music, loads of bonus indie points for just seeming like badasses

Still waiting for that long promised singles comp.

Have a listen to At Action Park. Just a really great album with a great sound.

More generally:

I rate Terraform highly. Love the artwork and the songs.

Somewhere I have every release digitally but sadly only the albums physically. I need the first two albums on vinyl too.

Good band, I reckon. A 4 from me.

I’ve got 3 of the albums on CD and Dude Incredible on vinyl but I’m still missing 1000 Hurts. Annoying because it’s obviously really good but the packaging is too unwieldy

Their album is the best thing I think Albini has been involved with. It’s heartbreaking that the name of the band means I don’t really want to talk to anyone about them.

Also £25 at least, or up to £40ish

Is the Dude Incredible format pretty normal?

So much this.

they’ve really grown on me in recent times

find them a lot more satisfying + pleasurable to listen to than a lot of other similar music

I voted 5

could happily listen to all their music over and over

i’d be happy enough with the CD (sorry Steve) but that’s an unwieldy box too!

yeah normal packaging, with a CD inside as well, albeit in no sleeve and with no writing on it at all

I used to sort of feel like this

but they give me the same pleasure now as, idk, building something with tools or sculpting or painting

a very physical kind of substance

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

Annoyed I’ve seen them twice and they haven’t played this either time

Saw them once and they played it. It was awesome.

Bob continued to play his repetitive bass bit after the song was over until the audience teased him. He replied ā€œI could play this for hours. Don’t test meā€.

I think I might have heard Action Park first but I’m not sure.

I think it took me about six months to round up all of the CD versions of everything BB, Shellac and Rman had put out up to there (2002ish).

Love Big Black to bits, not least because Atomizer and Songs… are two of my favourite album sleeves, and Kerosene is an all time jam. 5/5 for them all day long.

Never clicked with Shellac in the same way, always seemed a bit, I dunno, too muso-ish? Give me a drum machine and insane distorted guitars any day.
