July enough of that nonsense Football Thread

Getting to the point now where nothing short of a title or European Cup can be considered good enough for Chelsea given their spend, isn’t it?

Just casually dropping 786.1 billion Guatemalan Quetzales as they blunder to yet another Gazprom last 16 defeat. #gamesgone

How’s this Club World Cup gone here in the states? Haven’t watched any of it. Assume they all can’t stand it.

Roy: How was the other night?
Olivia: Which night? Glastonbury?
Roy: Which one do you think?
Olivia: I’m asking you.
Roy: Well I’ll leave it there then if you’re gonna be tricky like that I won’t even bother to carry on. We’ll stop it here shall we? If you’re gonna be tricky with your questions like that.

Roy: Which one well how many gigs were there?? You only got off the stage at Glastonbury three days ago. Let’s not take the piss here.
Roy: Start again.
Olivia: It was a genuine question.
Roy: Well I won’t mention it. Of course I was talking about fuckin’ Glastonbury.

Hope there’s a buyback clause

US/ Guatemala Gold Cup semi’s on now. Kind of like this squad thats been playing. Young unproven talent playing with some great chemistry USA hasn’t seen in awhile. But knowing if they win it all to be replaced at World Cup Stage by a bunch of primadonnas disheartening.

Eze’s release clause is 68m, surprised any top 8 team isn’t rushing to pay that

So unbelievably sad. So young.

Yeah, mate messaged just Jota’s name so I Googled to see why, a story about him getting married about 2 weeks ago was the top result.

Dreadfully sad.

Fucking shocking

Going on twitter to search latest & it’s 50% news stories about the accident mixed with 50% wedding pictures from 5 days ago

Sounds so stupid but when you’re this into a sport and your team you feel like you know these guys. Horrible, horrible news.

Always a really likeable player as well even though he played for club sides and a national side I’m not really fond of, there was something quite endearing about him. Just generally seemed to play with a bit of a smile on his face and quite liked that he was that style of forward where he just tucks the ball away while not doing much else.

My Scouse mate has called him Jota the Slotter for years which is quite something to hear in a thick scouse accent and made me laugh every time. So sad.
