Name a UK town/city with population over 150,000 that hasn't delivered a good band/artist.

Hmm. Would’ve considered Eurythmics a London band but fair enough.

Gloucester

Acid Reign? I vaguely knew their lead singer in the dim distant past.

If band singers count, Lily Fontaine.

Aren’t Ultravox from Huddersfield or is it just one of them?

Just one of them. I’ve just remembered that Huddersfield can now claim Aya.

Iceboy Violet as well, I think.

Andy Bell off of Erasure.

Just looked at the following article and couldn’t recognise a single one.

But maybe I could be persuaded if given some videos.

Joe Meek?

I’m originally from the county, and I must admit that this is a strong contender. Cheltenham has a bunch, weirdly.

Apparently the dude from ‘The Wanted’ whoever they are/were…

Even Cirencester (my town) has Cozy Powell.

None of those people is from Plymouth.

Roland Orzabal was half of Tears For Fears.

You’d recognise the Portsmouth Sinfonia if you heard them.

Definitely a London band

Importantly, they are all from Peterborough though.

But a very Scottish singer with a long and acclaimed solo career.

This is why I was questioning the initial methodology.

Like does delivered mean just born/grew up there but had success elsewhere or do they have to at least initially got somewhere while in that place.

Yeah, but Annie Lennox’s solo career is distinct from that I guess.

Aye. Quite fond of both of those, although for wildly different reasons.

Portsmouth Sinfonia are noteworthy, but certainly not “decent”

She wasn’t based in Aberdeen for that though was she?

Like are we claiming Franz Ferdinand count for Almondsbury, South Gloucestershire on account of Alex being born there?
