Name a UK town/city with population over 150,000 that hasn't delivered a good band/artist.

Milton Keynes

Slim pickings from both Bournemouth and Poole.

Born in or mostly lived in or the bands started in. Or some other option I didn’t consider.

Capdown! Ska punk is an acquired taste but they were one of the very best.

Apart from Greg Lake, aye

Swansea is really lacking, particularly in modern bands.

There is Badfinger and Man as legends. The Poo Sticks are something of a niche 90s indie band. Then more current it would be Trampoline.

Who am I missing from Southampton?

Isn’t Helen Love from Swansea?

Big Craig

Hate crime

Bury, Lancashire

Preston, Lancashire

Think Helen Jones lives in Swansea. But I’m sure the band would consider themselves a Cardiff band. At very least they’d say they are Cardiff City FC fans.

possibly Oldham, Lancashire. but I think people like Carl Cox so I think actually Oldham has produced at least 1 (one) good band/artist.

The N-Trance version of Stayin’ Alive is v funny at least

Rainy Miller, Blackhaine for Preston
The Fall for Bury
Oldham Tinkers, Twisted Wheel, Karen Elson and more recently local sensation Two Connors aka EDL Sheeran as someone I know calls em which I found very funny.

I don’t think I have ever heard anything by inspiral carpets but that fucking name gets so on my wick, there’s absolutely no way they can be anything other than terrible
