šŸ¦œ New Music - 30th June 2023 - šŸ¦©

What we got on the transition week, the blip, if you will?

I got an EP from emo aces Pool Kids, seemingly with their hardcore alter egos, Pool.

Not spun it yet but Pool Kids are def FFO Paramore etc, and fun bangers.

Have the body been worth listening to since their first album? Because that was pretty good but I havenā€™t bothered since

Finally!

Estrella del Sol - Figura de Cristal

Frontwoman of Mexican psych/shoegaze band Mint Field with her first solo album. Still a dream pop feel to this, but more ethereal and ambient, maybe leaning towards contemporary folk. Very lovely.

Brigid Mae Power - Dream from the Deep Well

Galway singer-songwriter. Great pre-release tracks from this, at least one of which reminded me of Aldous Harding.

Emergence Collective - Fly Tower

Improvisational minimalist collective, these three pieces recorded in the Fly Tower of the Abbeydale Picture House here in Sheffield. For fans of Steve Reich, Terry Riley.

Various Artists/Laura Cannell - ECHOLOCATION: Resonate From Here

Neo-classical, folk, electronic, medieval. The impossibly prolific Laura Cannell with this collection of collaborations as duos, remixes and re-workings, all using new and unheard material by Cannell as the starting point. Collaborators include Gazelle Twin, Kathryn Tickell and Nik Colk Void.

Will try the body and divide and dissolve, though I much prefer the ideas of both bands more than their music for the most part
