Tbf, I’ve just listened to it & didn’t love it but am already totally fascinated by it. Which is quite exciting.
There’s something new from Alfa Mist, might check that out. New british piano based jazz
I’m reserving judgement after one listen I dont think anyone could possibly digest it in one listen. It could go either way for me, Lana’s record reveals its hand literally immediately
It sound like something that I COULD end up loving is all I know from that fiona apple record but yeah not after 1 listen, dont think anyone could give it an accurate or honest appraisal after one listen other than determine if it it could be for them or not
there’s a doves reissue out today, couple of tracks previously only available on vinyl
spotify have helpfully tagged it under the wrong band name too
Almost certain you will not be disappointed
Not a lot for me today, but I have just been informed that there’s a new Jungle Brothers album, so I’ll be going in on that.
Toner - Silk Road. FFO Dinosaur Jr, and Wavves (but without the cringe). Album is good fun, 21 minutes that blast by.
Can’t say I’m too fussed about today’s releases but the reviews of the Fiona Apple album mean I’ll probably give that a listen.
I think the new Lau live album is due to arrive this week so hopefully that too.
I’m very cynical but the 10 on Pitchfork to me screams clickbait, even though it’s a decent and interesting record from a great artist. But a ‘their first 10 in years!!!’ angle gets an insane amount of curiosity clicks to their site at a time when advertising is probably through the floor.
This EP is good too. Electronic/dark synth pop
Blimey that Ed o Brian album is a big bag of not very much isn’t it? Think I prefer Phil selways
I like Lau, nice one, will investigate.
CD only at the moment but I think it’ll be streaming later in the year.
New So Cow album with a great title
RINA and Fiona Apple.
Nemus, one man atmo-black band from Germany releases his third album. His previous albums have explored man turning into a tree (Wald - Mensch), an aquatic creature (See - Mensch) and this one is about a man turning into a mountain. Makes a change from your usual black metal tropes!
Needless to say, it’s not a 10/10 record.
It is very very good though. I mean, I do love it. I’m loathe to stick a number on these things, but it’s an 8/10.
This is a bit like Meltzer starting to give matches six stars
It’s actually decent but fairly forgettable RnB
Enjoyed this cheers!
re: Fiona Apple This is the first time I’ve listened to her stuff tbh and it’s a really good listen, second half especially
