New Slowdive

There’s no Low in Slowdive. Oh, hang on…

That kind of scenario where you don’t want to do anything so uncouth as to disturb your hero by asking for a photo or an autograph while they’re having their dinner but you can;t help but keep looking over in what you think is a subtle way but is in fact rather obvious and disconcerting for said hero.
You end up muttering something about how you like the pepperoni on their first album and thought the reverb tastes really good here.

…Or maybe not…

Glad you enjoyed the gig even if Low didn’t quite meet your expectation. Their peak era for me is from Secret Name to Great Destroyer and unfortunately their setlists only hop into that period

PS
… go on then…what did Mr Halstead have?!

Calzone for food. Water only to drink - like a true pro :+1:

Still really liking the new (ish) album, they’ve done the comeback thing really well. I’ve heard there is going to be another album in the works too.

Yes please. As mentioned ^upthread, I think that their secret weapon that sets them outside of other shoegaze comebacks is that Neil Halstead is actually a bit of a genius songwriter. Plus they all seem to still get on with each other which always helps.

Could go for another Minor Victories album while we’re at it too…

Halstead said in an interview that they saw the comeback as a 2 album plan, with the first one being more crowd-pleasing and the second one being a bit more out there.

A couple of London dates added for December.

Having missed their set at the Roundhouse supported by Low I’m excited!

So weird thinking about things days before Christmas though. And I say this as someone in a long-distance relationship who has to plan his entire life out months and months ahead of time!

Oh man I like the sound of that a lot

Those London dates were in 2014. I got excited for a moment then realised I went to that.

Yep.

Ah shit. Really?

Was really looking forward to those dates.

As someone else said, “Star Roving” sounds very Coldplay. Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing; there was a certain point in time when Coldplay were pretty good.

Actual new slowdive (soon)

Good timing, Don’t Know Why plays at the end of the Never Have I Ever series finale on Netflix, that should get them some attention

That bit of the song sounds more like the Cure than Slowdive.

Either Slowdive sounding like Slowdive or Slowdive sounding like the Cure would be absolutely fine with me.

Nice! Hopefully means they’ll play some new stuff at Glastonbury.
