New Slowdive

But yeah, I think I have to admit to myself that I just don’t really rate Slowdive, as much as I feel I ought to, given my love of looking at shoes. (The truth is that I only really, really like Alison and Souvlaki Space Station from the one album of theirs I own.)

Have you all voted for the record in the Neptune Prize yet?

Low announced as support for the Roundhouse show. Quite a hefty support - surely they’re Roundhouse headliner status in themselves?

Non-LME shouldn’t feel too bad however as you’re getting Blanck Mass instead :+1:

i was quite disappointed about missing Blanck Mass, but this might prove exactly the right time to get into Low, it that’s possible.

Bloody love this album but I can see Go Get It standing the test of time more than the rest.

I’m just incredibly hyped that they’re coming to NZ early next year because it’s not often we get the opportunity to see shoe-gaze bands like this love.

Anyone with a spare ticket to the London show please? Slowdive alone are of course great, but with Low I really feel I’ve dropped the ball here.

Who is in for Leeds? @LastAstronaut, others?

I hope they play the hits.

Gonna spend the whole show shouting for Leave Them All Behind

Bet Low don’t even know how to play it…

That was pretty special from both Low and Slowdive - two of my very favourites on one bill. Amazed and pleased to see again such a young following among the crowd…funny how they have found an extensive young audience in the way that, say, Ride and many of their contemporaries haven’t…maybe its because their guitar experimentalism and creativity appeals plus their new LP is the stronger of the two…didn’t quite top the Garage gig for me but I think its purely down to the venue plus the Garage gig was right up there in my gig pantheon…the sound was good tonight but something about the Roundhouse and me never fully click…have never been able to put my finger on it…maybe its that it can seem rather crammed with little space when its a sell out…tonight I’d give both bands high 8/10s…what did others think?

Couldn’t hear it apst the chat :frowning:

nightmare - it was rather quiet - I was about 5 rows from the front right in front of the left speaker and had no need for the ear plugs (which for a shoegaze band is a little surprising) - but at the front it seemed quite respectful with the crowd into it…part of me was wondering if I should have gone back to find some space to…erm…‘wig out’…but judging by your comments I made the right move…I DON’T AND WILL NEVER GET THOSE WHO WANT TO TALK DURING GIGS…by all means chat away before and after but please not during…why not save the £30 and spend it on 4 pints in a London pub instead!

Exactly. I’d never wish tinnitus on anyone, but some of the crowd needed to be reminded where they were last night. I’m glad it was good down the front though, what I could enjoy of the songs sounded great.

Didn’t get a chance to update on the London show previously as went on holiday the following day…

Enjoyed Slowdive very much. I was at their very first comeback show at The Hoxton Grill which was ridiculously exciting, and while they’ve been back long enough for those excitement levels to abate slightly, this show obviously had the lure of new material. Set selection was pretty much spot on (although could have gone for one or two more from the new album personally). The whole band sounded great, Rachel’s vocals in particular, and the lighting complimented it perfectly. Shame that @Avery experienced that classic London gig chatter - I was probably about eight rows back from the front and it was fine down there.

Second time seeing Low, the first time being way back on the Things We Lost In The Fire tour. While I think that they’re fine, I’m not sure they’re really for me. Pleasant enough, but I’ve never really understood the love.

As an amusing aside, went for dinner in the pizza restaurant opposite the venue beforehand and was sat next to Neil Halstead for the duration.
