Also warming to Yeat
we live
It’s been a while coming for me. There have been bits I liked for a while, a good chunk of 2093 was pretty solid, but this is his most consistent project by far, helped by the length. No bad cuts.
Seems to be taking up the mantle of the ‘experimental pop rapper’, who brings together expensive cutting edge production and good pop sensibilities, as well as anyone right now. He has an interesting voice, is gaining a knack for melodies and has a good ear for beats.
Generally think a tendency for massively overlong albums will probably hold him back, but the way he’s been improving its entirely possible he could release something really good. This EP will be somewhere on my year end list regardless.
Listened to the new Ghostface last night. Embarrassing stuff.
This Post Paid For By PROF$.
Don’t think he’s released a single dud, album-wise. Amazing run
I’m listening to a fair bit of westside Gunn lately despite
- His annoying voice
- His mediocre rapping
- The name of his main mixtape series
I am just a sucker for the sound of his stuff!
And the song Brikaloti Volkoff on his new album is just aggressively terrible. Fucks sake
Beat selection is top notch IMO
Speaking of which, expanded Key Glock slaps too
Don’t think I’ve ever been this into a rapper who says absolutely nothing at all at any point but he does know how to pick great beats and glide over the top of them
Chuck Strangers, McKinley Dixon and Akai Solo all touring the UK next month, hot damn. Between McKinley having my fav rap album of the year and Akai my fav one from a couple years back - sorely tempted
Out next month, fully coproduced by Havoc and the Alchemist, which I guess gives it some hope.

New Armand Hammer & Alchemist on the way
good album, if you even care
Indie rapper love putting out albums on any day but a Friday
Talking of which…
This is also good
Actually pretty good? Having speculated for ages ‘what if mobb deep but griselda?’, I’m glad they’re apparently making that record, even if it’ll only be a sketch of what they might actually have made otherwise.
So, Jay Electronica has dropped a load of stuff on streaming services this week - some old some new I believe. Understandably a lot people have turned off to him but has anyone checked out the new stuff?
Yeah, have no desire to ever listen to him ever again tbh.
Aye I listened to him for the first time last year and found the anti-semitism so prominent, it was pretty shocking stuff
