A new artist for the Hessle Audio crew, Toumba who is based in Amman, Jordan. First track sounds intriguing, interested to hear the rest of the EP.
Lead track ‘Istibtan’ is a twist on a typical Jordanian wedding song with deep subs providing the foundations, complimented by crisp percussion and warm melodics
This is sounding totally lush, an artist, Otik, who I first heard about through these threads.
dancehall inspired beat with easy-listening sparkling melodies, filtered vocal swells and shuffling drums - demonstrating his talent for creating music that can span across a spectrum of genres
I’ve been enjoying this release from early January. Kinoteki is new to me. It’s all over the place from a genre perspective, but I quite like its intensity and genre-hopping nature. Third Strike and the closer are my personal highlights.
This has been putting a smile on my face. From stomping acid house to synthwave to techno. This is so good.
Voices From The Lake 10th Anniversary Reissue in March
Doesn’t say if this means the album is coming to streaming.
Wowzers €75 for the vinyl. It does look mint though.
Turns out Young Marco is a trance guy now, and has a track out on Ministry of Sound(!) that’s racked up about 2 million plays in less than a month. File under “didn’t see that coming”.
Guess he just wanted to make a big silly festival banger for his sets, rather than this is his entire new direction? Been playing it a while I think. And comes right on trend with all the pop edits around (goes back to the original song for the hook, but will probably remind most people of that crap Jason Derulo song that reworked it)
I like it, but it’s the kind of track that’s great in the right context, could be utterly infuriating to hear out everywhere for months
Was a fan of this one on the EP he put out a couple of months ago, along similar lines
Saw him play on Saturday, was very much a 140+ house and trance set. Should really have been tipped off by Courtesy being the other DJ on the bill.
This b2b with Orpheu gives a good representation of what he sounds like these days.
Definitely didn’t realise he’d gone all out in that direction, aye. Will check out the mix. How was the set?
Yeah dead good actually, for some reason I’m always surprised at how good a DJ he is technically; think it’s because the first thing I heard from him was his 2013 Dekmantel set which was fun but fairly clunky. Judging by how that track has taken off it feels like it might be the last chance for a while to see him somewhere that small.
New Tsuzing
Penelope Isles joining the Hartnolls for this latest one off the new Orbital album. Like the woozy dreaminess of this. Excited to see that Anna B Savage will be on another track too.
Eh Wut EP | Addison Groove | Pretty Weird (bandcamp.com)
The second track on this, Elevator, already sounds like a proper earworm of a DJ tool - kind of in the vein of that vocal-sample heavy “post dubstep”, Sicko Cell etc thing Addison Groove himself was adjacent to circa 2011.
Saw him last night, just a DJ set but he played what sounded like a run through some new album stuff to start with (the pre-released track was the only one Shazam picked up). Sounded really great, very heavy and percussive, almost like one long trance record being slowly sped up over 45 minutes.
Sounds like precisely my shit
