Rolling techno/house/electronic/dance/whatever 2024

Darren’s mixing style may be loose, but his track selections consistently stand out among typical choices. Back in the early 2000s, while DJing before him many times, I learned how to seamlessly drop an unexpected track, making it work effortlessly. To this day, Pointer Sisters’ ‘Automatic’ remains significant to me; Darren was the first DJ I heard skillfully drop it into a house/techno set, setting the dance floor ablaze. I still chuckle remembering him finishing a party with ‘Let me be your fantasy.’

no track listing yet. any idea what the crunchy banger is around 17mins ?

actually, don’t worry, there’s loads of these I’m interested in, I’m sure they’ll post a track list at some point.

That was brilliant. I’m going in again. And DJ Python next week.

Oh boy!

Hoping I’m in the right place for this, maybe someone can help me. I’m looking for something with a vibe of really primitive, old, grimy factories. Something mechanical sounding and repetitive, like industrial, minimal techno if such a thing exists?

I don’t really have as much knowledge of electronic music as other genres so willing to give anything a try even if you think it’s too obvious.

I really like @SunnyB’s The Alchemist track, it’s sort of along the right lines but those machines sound a bit too well maintained, maybe a darker, slower, creakier, more sinister version of that?

You’re very kind! Will give it some thought…

How’s about this one from last month’s Batu EP:

maybe more of a dilapidated factory sound than fully industrial though…

Nice mix but I don’t know who’s paying £8:50 for the digital album…

I think the Olivia Mendez track gets closest to what I’m primarily looking for (Full disclosure, it’s for a Music League round on the theme “The Industrial Revolution”) but I’ve really enjoyed every track linked so far. I’ve set a vague goal this year of getting more into electronic music and these are all new discoveries to me. Thanks!

Yeah I was pretty keen on getting the wax but £18 + postage, nah.

Digital prices are creeping up tho, £2/track is pretty common now. Mosca’s got his tunes up for £3 each now which is just… nah. The worst I’ve come across recently was Loxy & Resound charging £38 for a 10 track digi album. I commented about it on a YouTube channel and one of them replied saying “because that is the price”. Okay, I’m not going to buy it then. I know music is being horribly devalued nowadays but come on.

JK Flesh (Justin K Broadrick of Godflesh alias) does some real gnarly industrial stuff

Or how about this, if it doesn’t necessarily have to be techno and more noise/ambient

(Was thinking of the Limited Space tune specifically, track 4 or 5)

Or some early Abul Mogard

Amazing, thanks! I liked Godflesh but could never really get into Jesu, that track though… oof! The Yellow Swans one is perfect oo

One more for your consideration:

(Flood Lights off the same EP hits similar notes, but takes a little while to really kick off)

Further away from the techno side of things, but this is what came to mind from your description:

Looks like you have enough to be getting on with, however this album from Perc is along those lines
