They’re calling it ‘lovely stuff’
Pye Corner Audio (who basically fills the impossible hole in my heart Boards Of Canada have left vacant these days) has a new album (his 5th for them in fact) on Ghost Box in April. Artwork has really got me anticipating.

Great news. Lets Emerge! and the other recent work with Andy Bell felt like a left-turn but that wasn’t on Ghost Box and I’m hoping this is a return to form.
With you on him filling a BoC-shaped gap. I’ve immersed myself in pretty much everything Martin Jenkins has released as a way of dealing with the loss
Really thrilled to have @GrandMoffTarkin back with another guest mix - have had this on tonnes over the weekend, it’s such a good mix:
Thanks, far too kind! Had fun doing this one
Really digging this new track from aya, has a pleasingly insistent feel to it:
Full EP on the 23rd
That DJ Python Essential Mix is totally lovely isn’t it? So beautiful, so multi-faceted in terms of atmosphere and skilful.
Quite pleased that he keeps the reggaeton vibes to a minimum. I like reggaeton/dembow etc but I feel we may be past the point of saturation with that in club music just now (with some exceptions).
And also he’s a killer DJ when he steps away from that stuff. His side of dnb for this mixtape for Climate of Fear back in 2020 is exceptional; no tricks or frills, but the selection is mesmeric.

Wondering when/if people like Ivkovic and DJ Sotofett are gonna be invited to do an Essential Mix. Imagine an Ivkovic & Willikens B2B one…
Crikey, new Olof Dreijer is both the warmest and grimiest he’s sounded on a club record maybe ever? Immense.
Finally stuck on this DJ Python mix, wow.
Oh man really love that Helena Deland track and it sounds so beautiful here
This was great listening
Reckon both the new Little Simz and Shygirl EPs belong in here, both great
Another one who’s here for the DJ Python Essential Mix. Probably my favourite EM in a decade (since Jaar), and certainly my favourite music of this year so far.
Just love how he takes his ‘style’ of music and stretches it across such a vast canvas so it’s a real dialogue between genres and decades. Feels like it’s a real standalone piece of music. Properly magical.
i too am listening to it, enjoying it, one of those ones where it’s impossible to follow the tracklist though haha
Meeting a couple of friends in London on Saturday for this, thought I’d mention in case anyone else is up for some noisy fun:
Argh I’m well up for it but I’m going to a different gig the same night and then I’m off to a mate’s birthday. Next time this would be great.
Do report back!
I started the 2024 Spotify Playlist. Only 3 tracks I’ve been able to find so far, but feel free to add: Login - Spotify
Cheers for setting this up - have added a few tracks!
Interested to hear how Kavari is, she’s playing Bristol in April and I’m tempted.
Hadn’t seen that was happening! Knew as soon as you said it that was going to be at Strange Brew though. Grabbed me a ticket
