I have a massive thing for Ka Pliskova, to the extent I will watch her whenever she’s on TV or at least regularly check her results and watch some highlights. She’s like my second team after Spurs and I don’t really understand where it’s come from :flushed:

Her name is rather satisfying to say

I’d feel a bit disappointed to have to watch Milos and Big Kev, but the other two promised much and unfortunately Aga juuuuust failed to spark that match into life. A bit relieved I don’t have to keep rooting for her now…

Tricky one. Not to put too fine a point on it crushing on female tennis players was a significant part of my adolescence, so to some extent old habits are ingrained. That said I’m a grown-up who’s as good as married so everything in reason. Kind of hate myself for finding Bouchard attractive, but as blondes-of-a-type go she is quite the example. Muguruza has an ineffable smouldering something, and Halep is just adorable. The rest of them I can keep my maleness under control for.

There’s a conversation piece for you: which tennis players did you fancy in your teens? Sabatini and Graf for me.

Yeah I mean I don’t mean to be THAT GUY but it was more about her personality than anything - just seems fucking sound.

Dunno where this Albot geezer’s come from. Apparently he’s been a pro for ten years, but I’ve never heard of him, and he’s walloping howitzers around Bedene at the moment after putting Pablo out last round. Maybe he’s found an energy drink that really suits him.

A bit of a harmless crush is no biggie. Just no perving or stalking.

I just read Playboy for the articles buddy

no reason why Safarova can’t beat the winner of Woz-Makarova and put together a decent run here
hope so, heard talk of her retiring a few months ago and has still had nowhere near the career her talent deserves

Well without wanting to be horrible she flakes out a bit easily doesn’t she? I mean Aga applied some serious pressure towards the end of that match, but still a lot of points were won with flailing UEs from the other side of the net. Guess it shows grit that she got through all those breakpoints at 5-4 to take the second MP, but still.

yeah she is sadly a complete flake

Yeah, she very nearly choked today, from a position of total dominance.

Funny day all round. Raonic barely won a point from a rally until the third set, but his serve gets him out of jail. Anderson started off impressively but seemed to take his foot off the gas as Seppi won points without really making many winners. We headed home after the heavens opened just as they were removing the covers.

Plus there won’t be the flying ants, either.

I’m not a fan of Makarova (I find her approach too close to gamesmanship for my liking), but she’s the no 1 ranked doubles player in the world right now and knocked Wozniacki out of last year’s US Open. She knows how to win matches.

Yeah, she’s had loads of big wins at slams before and Woz has never been a contender here anyway, not sure it even constitutes an upset. would say that of all the seeds that have fallen already Kvitova was the only one who seemed like a potential winner

Cilic and Nadal making hard work here of my claim that Cilic was a bigger contender than Nadal

uh oh

Nadal’s just the GOAT innit
