Thought it deserved its own thread now it’s finally on UK telly.
I’m up to date so only a few eps left of season 2 to watch and I’m gonna be distraught when it finishes. I’ve never been into a medical drama before but there’s something about this one I find both incredibly gripping and incredibly soothing (them all just barking medical jargon at each other, hook it to my veins).
Favourite characters? Who do you fancy? Who would you most / least like to be treated by were you in an emergency situation?
watched the first two episodes last night, enjoyed them a lot. my mate pointed out how much the young Welsh (irl) lad looks like this image of shinji from evangelion which cracked me up.
We’ve only watched season 1 so far, but just about every character in it is so well written (with the possible exception of Collins and Langdon).
If I had to pick some faves, mine would be Mel King, Dana Evans, and Dennis Whittaker. Also, the coffee slurping John Chen who is the chillest person in the department during the most stressful period.
If I wanted to be treated by someone, it would be Go-slow Mo, obv.
the shark is a great character, such a prick. hope he makes another appearance. maybe one day the show will let us see one of the mysterious floors that exist in between the ER and the roof
Please guess how many bridges there are in Pittsburgh…
I finished watching season 1 today and thought it was brilliant. I’ve only watched ep 1 of S2 as that’s all that’s available for me on NowTV for some reason.
Favourite character was either Trinity Santos or Mel King.
It was so claustrophobic and frenetic in a good way. Nice to see competent people do excellent work.
Nice that it’s set in Pittsburgh which I’ve always loved since watching My So-called Life back in the 90s. It also made me a Steelers fan which is a bit annoying. Must go there one day. Meant to be really friendly.
Big fan of these two and not just for the swooning potential
It’s just excellently written and put together isn’t it?
The stress and the constant work to keep going, empathetic but also professional - it’s so powerful
I fancy [character in season 2]. I’d most like to be treated by Dr McKay and Nurse Perlah. Other than those Dana is one of my all time favourite TV characters
One of the best things I’ve seen in years. Struggle with medical dramas a bit, but this is gripping, tense, emotional and you can really get a sense of the level of performance you’d have to have to be able to do that job. Absolutely amazing TV.
Got one ep left of S1. Wasn’t particularly impressed with the mass shooting twist (thought it was a bit of cop out), but the episode after they revealed it was absolutely masterful. Hoping the final ep of S1 lives up to the rest of it.
Also, S1e8 is one of the most emotionally brutal things I’ve watched in ages.
Very good show IMO. You kind of have to make peace with the fact that a lot of the patients kind of behave like gaming NPCs with a lot of “here’s who I am and what my deal is!” dialogue but it’s an unbelievably well paced and performed show aside from that
