Oh that was a good game. Rtype but with insects.
Thereās a bit more info in this piece, too
Yes, Civilization AGA, here we come!
Despite its form factor being inspired by the Amiga A500, the system emulates not only the A500ās OCS chip set, but also the enhanced ECS chip set of the A500+ and the Advanced Graphics Architecture (AGA) of the A1200, meaning even ROMs of A1200-only enhanced games should work on it.
Need to get some Sensible games in there - Sensi Soccer/SWOS and Cannon Fodder in particular
Glad theyāve got the Bitmap Bros games there - could use Gods, Xenon 1/2 and maybe Magic Pockets while theyāre at it
And Alien Breed 2D games, and Superfrog, and Psygnosis games like Lemmings aaaaaaaaah
Iād forgotten about this
Got this book for my brother for Christmas (Bitmap Books do similar ones for other platforms, too)
If I can get mega lo mania, Merchant Colony and Cohort I may be in.
Pinball Dreams, but no Pinball Fantasies? Whatās that all about!?
Mind you, if you can fire up OctaMed and Jesus on Es on this then Iāll definitely be buying one.
Screw Zool, such a sonic ripoff.
Old Post I know but Elite II was started on C64 and then shelved.
worst possible time to see this post, cos itās made me go and order one
(and Iāve still got my old amiga joystick with a USB adapter so balls to the joypad)
Are these your photos? I know itās not the point but the carpet looks delicious and I want to walk on it barefoot
I bought mine a while ago but Iām almost certain I bought it from Canada as well, so probably the same folk. It plugged straight into my iMac with no issues, fingers crossed the mini is the same
Mine has pink trim but otherwise the same. Used to have the Competition Pro, but smashed that up in a fit of pique as a 15-yo (wish I could remember what game drove me to such destruction)
There it is. Such a beaut. RIP, I wanna run to you etc
I always struggled with the Bug, could never get used to it. My mates swore by it tho
I loved that game, looking forward to seeing how it stands up
Yes, I had this one - loved it!
Mine arrived today. Bit disappointed, as the gamepad is a piece of shit (The Chaos Engine was pretty much unplayable with it) and the original amiga joystick I have with USB adapter doesnāt work. Canāt seem to buy the official retrogames joystick for anything other than silly money either. Think theyāve fucked this up TBH, the vast majority of Amiga games were designed to be played on joystick and not joypad. Apparently an Xbox 360 controller works well, with the analog stick making things a lot easier.
Getting games on stick via WHDownload or whatever does seem to open up more settings options, including controller configurations, so Iām hoping that will help a bit. Tho I had to order a bloody USB stick cos I donāt have a compatible one in the house
Turns out my adapter is from these Retronic people, but a) I donāt have a PC to download the software required onto and b) the instructions they give are gibberish to me so I guess Iām stuck
Iāve managed to get WHDownload going and some games on a stick working, which is good. Not tried playing with my joystick on sideloaded games yet, but Iām not convinced itāll work without a firmware upgrade and I canāt do that on a Mac. TBH Iām probably just gonna play mouse-driven games (and games where the shitty joypad doesnāt affect the controls too badly) until RetroGames get the firmware sorted and (e.g.) the Speedlink Competition Pro works straight away when plugged in. If I can source a cheap 2nd hand Xbox 360 controller Iāll get that too
Itās been a negative experience so far but Iām pleased with the kit itself, itās a lovely piece of machinery and The Chaos Engine looked and ran beautifully, it was just gash to control. Really looking forward to them sorting out the joystick issues. In the meantime, Iām gonna play Lemmings, The Settlers, Worms, Colonizationā¦
