Watched The Baby on Sky over the past few days. What a wasted opportunity!

Starts off interestingly and seems like it has something to say about contemporary motherhood before just flailing desperately with bizarre character choices and a general lack of explanation for what is going on. Felt like it needed another couple of passes on the script and maybe a new writer. Such a shame.

Hacks is good

Funny when she gets kicked off the lesbian boat

We’ve watched most of the 1st season of Slow Horses over the last week and it’s been surprisingly good, if a bit absurd at points.

Gary Oldman is excellent in it.

done one ep of The Bear, finally. Good stuff though seems very all-over-the-place tonally? Obviously gonna keep going cos it seems fun and a Via Chicago needledrop got me right onside - also funny that both this and Triangle of Sadness made significant use of Refused’s New Noise in 2022, one of those funny coincidences of timing

done three eps of Cabinet of Curiosities. First was solid, second had a good setup but descended into eww scary rats eww dark tunnels for far too long, third ep was pretty great, slow burn, spooky villain, and F Murray Abraham killing it. Will continue with this in bits and pieces, got such a fondness for an anthology show

Good news.

Already excited for the next time a Tory government bereft of ideas and/or other things to privatise proposes this again.

Ep 4 of Cabinet is a doozy

Finally got around to starting The Bear myself and it’s living up to the very high expectations I had going in.

We had extended family over Christmas and it was very hard to not become insufferable and go “COUSINNNNN” whenever I talked to them

Shouting ‘Behind!’ whenever walking out the kitchen with a plate of food was another one that was tempting to use at Christmas

Nice! Every episode is up, same with all five seasons of Search Party.

Ha, I was kind of hoping it would be just because even though it would have been garbage we could have done a tie-in edition where I work!

Just started Our Flag Means Death. Fair bit of “they’re in it” going on.

Interesting thread on the streaming cancellation syndrome.

I’d have to go looking for the article I saw it on but I think it is also true that for all but the absolute monster hits, viewers drop off dramatically from season 1 to season 2. So once you’ve had that initial sugar rush from the hype of season 1, season 2 probably isn’t worth it.
