TV/Netflix/Amazon Prime/Apple etc series thread for 2023

I was very reluctant to watch this and had low expectations but this is truly excellent tv. I’ve laughed so hard at some parts.

Added to Netflix today, looks like a novel combination of two classic reality TV sub genres. Obviously won’t be for everyone but I’m intrigued.

Finished Arcane. Thought it was brilliant. A lot of tropes of course, but all very well done, and it could have been badly done and I’d still have thought it looked incredible. Would love to see a making of.

Must be up there as the greatest video game adaptation of all time? (Though I’ve never played League so don’t know how much it takes from it).

Really rated season 1 of Reservation Dogs see if I can get through season 2 tonight and tomorrow

Loving Search Party, finished the first season already

Watched the Abbey Road doc by Mary McCartney. Absolute Nepo Baby shite, particularly since Giles Martin and all what a waste.

YouTube recommended this to me, there’s apparently an official Tom & Jerry anime. Very much for the little kiddos and not at all violent but it does look cute.

Search Party is very good, so many laughs in the dinner party episode

Just finished Three Pines on Prime and really enjoyed it. It’s only eight episodes long and I watched it in a few days. Nice pace, good cast, interesting storylines that don’t always go the way you expect.

Early Doors is on BBC 4 tonight!!

Brilliant show!

Ended up watching the finale of The Rig, which was fine. Always nice to see Iain Glen and Owen Teale with their proper accents

I was right up for this but gave up after two episodes.

Blackbird scratched the itch i wanted from three pines, sort of like true detective but coherent.

The Rig has decent reviews from what I can see but I’m one ep in and it is cheap as hell. Like a Channel 5 late night programme from the early 00’s.

Tried to watch Kaleidoscope, intrigued by the concept so was looking forward to it. Lasted about 25 mins. Absolutely garbage writing, I spent half the time cringing
