100 Greatest Emo Songs List

They were absolutely immense at their second to last ever show in Manchester.

Pretty jealous of Jejune, Elliot and Jets to Brazil.

Oh man, I woulda loved to of seen Elliot! False Cathedrals and…Song in the Air is it? were soooo important to me as a teen. Don’t think that was enough of a public apology for your shameful behaviour though! Also would of killed to see Penfold.

I used to love all that stuff - Skycamefalling etc. Drowningman might conceivably go on there I guess?

Trimming down a wide reaching genre over 30 odd years to an ordered list is always going to be a bit silly but I’m enjoying the playlist a lot. Nice mix of stuff I know and don’t :+1:

Ah, I went to safe and predictable in my guesses.

No copper & stars? What the fuck
Or helpless sign in please by spy Vs spy
No Leben leben
No The Hated, or The Pine at all.
No Human Hands!?
No Leben leben by yage!?
No Shikari - the kids shouldn’t be playing with fire? This band seem totally forgotten and they were incredible.

General lack of screamo/emoviolence but then orchid are in (wrong song) and all screamo is just trying to catch up after chaos is me so I suppose that’s fair…

Loads more uninteresting thoughts saved for later when I’m on a proper keyboard.

I had Shikari on hard rotate at college, used to like being a bit of a snob and if people asked if it was Enter Shikari, being like ā€˜well actually…’

same with Gallows Holier Than The Cross

surprised that with the pop punky stuff there’s no room for The Movielife, Jamaica Next or Walking on Glass would slot in there well

Likewise, would’ve expected Must’ve Run All Day or Ape Dos Mil by Glassjaw

Good read. Up for the playlist.

Reckon I’d find a place for Hundred Reasons in there

Enjoyed that list
Personal faves Mineral, SDRE, The Hotelier, ROS, Braid, Christie Front Drive, One Last Wish, Drive Like Jehu and Knapsack all rightly represented
Jawbreaker song sounds superb and has me checking out their debut havinhg only known Bivouac. Also really liked the Promise Ring track and will have me doing likewise. I had Wood/Water when it was released but was a bit underwhelmed at the time.
Will be revisiting/exploring further some of the Dischord stuff: Dag Nasty etc
Other early impressions: Need to check out Pedro the Lion (only know the later stuff), Hoover, Swing Kids, Fuel, City of Caterpillar and possibly the Get Up Kids, Crash of Rhinos and Straylight Run further.
There’s some tracks on the Emo Diaries series (Flux Capacitor, Slowride, Camber, Racecar Riot, Stuart, Sweep the leg Johnny etc) that I would find a place for but this seems comprehensive and my genre knowledge is not as extensive…Job well done and I agree its a misunderstood genre…Out of all my fellow music loving mates a grand total of zero are into this type of music - a couple are accepting but most are bemused by my veering into this territory in the last decade or so. I think they are missing out.
