Civilization with a zed

Especially in Civ 2 where all you needed to do is reach tanks before everyone else and spam them with stacks of doom.

Something that’s never seemed right in any Civ game: attacking a legacy warrior unit with something like a battleship navy and them somehow not getting wiped out first shot.

Death Star turbolaser problem, innit.

I’ve done exactly this, also because it took ages to do anything on my puny laptop.

or worse, losing a tank to a spearman.

One of my favourite things about Civ is the different personalities of the AIs. You can plan to start a nice culture victory game, then this lunatic’s gurning mush appears…

… and it’s time to build units like there’s no tomorrow. Which there might not be if you don’t.

What’s your favourite map type?

I’ve historically gone for a pangea over most others as I find seafaring quite dull in most versions of Civ.

I’ll tell you the worst one: Inland sea. Uniquely crap and awkward.

Have a soft spot for the real Earth ones, but generally agree that decent sized land masses beat bitty island ones. Nice to be able to play the early game in some semblance of peace though so ideally not everyone crammed together.

Medium continents for me, Clive.

In my current game, I’m sandwiches between the Zulus and the Greeks. Both Shaka and Alexander are grade A psychopaths and I am not getting a moment’s piece.

Tried Civ VI again for a couple of hours last night. I guess I just find it boring, even in the early exploration/land-grab phase. Back to V for me, I think. Damn you, Firaxis.

oh, what a surprise

Quiet excited for CIV VI on the Switch.

I played a lot of IV when I loved alone in Texas. Was great playing it on my Mac using Steam. Only bought it once! Felt like cheating.

I played a lot of Revolutions on the 360 too.

Ok you win, starting up a new game of V

Please let us know which leaders are unreasonable dicks to you

I always have him as an AI player on civ 5 because he’s the most fun one to talk to (even if he will eventually try and kill you)

always have pedro as well just to balance him out

bought civ 5 ages ago but couldn’t get it to work on my laptop so never really played it. randomly tried it again a couple of months ago and now it magically works so have been rinsing the shit out of it. have particularly been enjoying the shoshone, think they might actually be the best civ in the game? was reading about the polynesians and the koreans earlier and they both sound fun so think i’m gonna have to buy some dlc

I started a new game today. Theodora (Byzantines), small archipelago map.

The Shoshone ability to choose ruins bonuses is rad.
