Morning! Let’s do this then shall we?
Rage Against The Machine
Bob Marley & The Wailers
Manic Street Preachers
Toots & The Maytals
The Smashing Pumpkins
The Rolling Stones
Belle And Sebastian
The Spice Girls
Today; Pink Floyd
The worst case of hippies who became even more horrible old men.
Dull as fuck and their fans are tedious wankers who somehow make the band even more boring.
They only get a 2 because of how influential they were on just about every band I love.
And the great gig in the sky.
Indie lads love telling people how boring they find pink floyd
Not listened to them much but excited to see how this thread plays out
They’re fine. Don’t really like to judge bands on what they can’t control however my ex’s old housemate always used to play them in his room really loudly and that made me hate them.
Some good tunes (and gorgeous sounding guitars) but a load of shite as well.
3/5. Might change to a 2/5
Never really got the fuss 3/5.
One of the 1st gigs my Mum ever went to was apparently Pink Floyd at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool in 67.
Only really know the early stuff and Dark Side of the Moon (aka the best album EVER in my Dad’s opinion).
Not that much into the prog-rock stuff. Quite like the early daft psychedelic stuff when Syd Barrett was around.

This but with uni flatmates
Thought the scissor sisters version of comfortably numb was the original for literal years
People who bang on about how much they hate a certain band are just as dull as people who bang on about how much they love a certain band (myself included).
Having said that; 1/5, absolute turgid shite. Self-indulgence masquerading as creativity.
Beyond a few genuinely great songs (Echoes, Wish You Were Here) they made the most boring rock music imaginable.
It’s almost impressive how boring they made it.
I’d rather listen to Sting.
It will be a huge, passionate 5.
I can understand people not liking it, but the absolute vitriol (including outright abuse aimed at people who like them) they seem to prompt from some people always surprises me somewhat.
I don’t have time to put all my thoughts down now, but will probably be back with something resembling an essay and a playlist for the unconverted (most of, I suspect) after work this evening.
Ultimately the reason why I had to dump my guitar teacher. Fuck off David Gilmour.
2/5 because some of the more experimental stuff was a gateway into actually interesting music for me, but The Hits are all fucking wank.
My dad always told me how dull they were so I didn’t listen to them. 5
Same with the Dean Wareham version of Hey You actually
Someone in halls at uni put the entire discography up on a shared network drive so I grabbed all of it and listened to it chronologically. Kept wondering when it was going to get good.
They’re one of those bands who I dislike so strongly on a conceptual basis that I’ve never bothered listening to them. Am I missing out?
Btw I will be abstaining from the HGATR poll.
