@ninetyeightytwo - have listened to yours a few more times in the last week. So much that I didn’t know. Really like some of the atmospheric stuff early in the mix. Felt like a soundtrack. Quite like the Go! Team tune, a band I’d heard of but never checked out before so will do.
The Sleepy Sun song near the end of the mix is a cracking tune & works really well at breaking up the mood. I’m going to check them out in more detail too.
There are a couple of songs in the middle part that I’ve been skipping past, but as I’m unfamiliar with a lot of the artists I don’t recall who these are to be honest. With over 20 songs on the tracklist, it’s a fine hit rate though.
All in all, another great mix - thanks a million!

You’re quite welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.

Realised a few days ago I was responsible for one of your two missing mixes - it’s now on its way!

Not to worry, Si. Looking forward to hearing it :+1:

Glad you liked! and good consistency with two of your likes - The LK and Fredrik are pretty much the same band/duo from Sweden. The LK have one quite poppy upbeat album, and then there are three more atmospheric Fredrik albums. Definitely recommend them all without hesitation.
The singer now seems to have a new band (sounding pretty much exactly the same) with a new ep out this Spring, so I’m looking forward to that: https://soundcloud.com/varamon/

Glad you liked it! Figured some of the heavier stuff would be a long shot, so all good!

The Yutaka Minobe and Takayuki Maeda is from the soundtrack for Skies of Arcadia, which is superb as far as vg soundtracks go. The rest of it’s pretty standard video game fare, but this track’s got kind of a free jazz feel to it… found it really interesting. Charli XCX, I’m not really sure about the rest of her stuff to be honest - get the feeling with her more recent stuff it’s quite typically chart music, but her older might be more worth mining.

The mix is here if anyone else is interested

YES! I knew I recognised them from somewhere. Not played Skies of Arcadia for years, but music like that has a burrowing effect.

Thanks for the extra info TVDC - it was still interesting to hear the two heavier songs even if not my thing. I gave the full Charli XCX album a listen afterwards and I’m not sure much else really did it for me, but that song you included is excellent and would have passed me by otherwise.

Ic-Smic, I’ll post some feedback on yours soon. I’ve been listening to it quite a bit in the car and haven’t forgotten.

Ah, good to know on Charli XCX. Thought that might be the case…

Hey @shes_so_high your CD arrived this morning, many thanks I look forward to listening to it. First time I’ve had a full collection of CDs - I sent 5 and received 5. Good stuff.

@TVDenimChap been listening to your cover cd quite a bit, took me a while to get it from my hard drive to a cd and then into my car. I’ll post some feedback to the covers thread shortly (just need to find the Tracklisting now).

Oh and I assume everyone’s on it already but just in case it’s been overlooked the next edition is under way:

I’ll match people up at the weekend so details to me by the end of the week please if you want to play.

Arrived yesterday, with a bonus disc
Haven’t had a chance to listen yet, but I will over the next few days & will come back to you with some feedback.

I thought I didn’t know Frederik, but I just found a copy of Trilogi in my depressingly large pile of things I’ve bought over the years but not got round to listening to - it’s really wonderful so thanks for bringing me back to it.

haha, excellent news! It really is a great album, so hope you enjoy!

Hi @Icarus-Smicarus, thanks very much for your mix. In short, there’s nothing I don’t like on the mix, and some really interesting new discoveries.

The John Cale song is awesome - I love VU, but Paris 1919 was one of those albums I’ve always meant to get around to but hadn’t. Somadrone were another highlight - that song sounds like a lost baggy classic. I haven’t kept up with PJ Harvey’s output but I really enjoyed the song of hers too, though I probably wouldn’t have identified it as her without the tracklisting.

Redneck Manifesto were a nice slab of classic post-rock and I hadn’t heard of them before. Exploded View were cool as well - hadn’t heard of them before, but they reminded quite a bit of Clinic.

Really nice mix throughout and the inclusion of all the Irish acts that I’d never heard of and enjoyed was great. Thanks again.

@shes_so_high - I got your mix through last week. Thanks very much for sending. I’ll post feedback once I’ve had chance for a proper listen.

cheers, glad you enjoyed. yeah i do tend to throw a few Irish acts into each mix, partly cos they’ll be new to people but also just because they’re flippin great

No feedback on my CD @anon96483921? :frowning: Would love to know if you enjoyed it. Was it one of the few you said you left behind at Christmas?

I might have to do more than one next time, spread the love as it were!

Agggh I’m afraid it was. I’m getting my mum to bring them when she next visits, but I don’t know how to listen to them! Might have to try find a CD player in a charity shop…

No worries. You can always listen to mine on Mixcloud if you want; https://www.mixcloud.com/BioMech68/dis-winter-mix-2016/

oh fucking great! I’ll have a bath right now
